  • Eric Haase C | SF

    Tigers' Eric Haase: Exits lineup

Haase is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Haase will rest for the day game after he started at either catcher or designated hitter in four of the Tigers' past five contests. Tucker Barnhart will check in behind the plate Sunday, while Harold Castro handles DH duties.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Sitting out Sunday

Hedges is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Hedges will rest for the day game after he went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored while catching all nine innings of Saturday's 4-1 win. Luke Maile gets the nod behind the dish in Sunday's series finale.

  • Astros' Christian Vazquez: Gets Sunday off

Vazquez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Vazquez will take a seat for the day game after a night game, allowing Martin Maldonado to receive a turn behind the dish. Through his first three games for Houston since being acquired from Boston at the trade deadline, Vazquez has gone 1-for-8 at the plate.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Reaches four times in win

Rutschman went 2-for-3 with a run and two walks in Saturday's victory over the Pirates.

Rutschman reached base four times for the second time in five games, and after getting on a total of 15 times over that span, his OPS on the season is now up to .809. Rutschman has regularly hit second of late, and with Trey Mancini no longer on the roster, it's likely that arrangement will continue.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

    Yankees' Jose Trevino: Resting Saturday

Trevino will sit Saturday against the Cardinals.

Even in a surprising All-Star season, Trevino doesn't have a significant lead over Kyle Higashioka atop the Yankees' catcher depth chart. The pair have split starts behind the plate over the last 10 games, and Trevino has only a modest 58-49 lead in starts at the position overall this year. Higashioka will catch for Domingo German on Saturday.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Not starting Saturday

Heim will sit Saturday against the White Sox.

Heim is in the midst of a breakout season, as he's slashed .254/.319/.450 with 13 home runs in 84 games, but he's been in a bit of a slump over his last five games, grabbing just one hit, a homer. He'll rest Saturday as Meibrys Viloria takes over behind the plate.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Out of lineup

Mejia will sit Saturday against the Tigers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mejia returned from a shoulder injury Friday and went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks. He won't be asked to start on consecutive days right away, so Christian Bethancourt will take over behind the plate.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Splitting time with Vazquez

Maldonado went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Guardians.

Despite Houston's acquisition of Christian Vazquez, Maldonado has been in the lineup for three of the last four games. He's been productive in that span, driving in four, scoring three runs and recording a home run and double. Even so, Maldonado is hitting only .184/.245/.360 across 276 plate appearances for the season, and he's likely to lose playing time in the near future.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: Goes deep Friday

Stassi went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's extra-inning win over Seattle.

Stassi blasted a two-run shot in the top of the ninth inning to give the Angels a 3-0 lead. The long ball proved to be crucial, as Seattle came back for three runs in the bottom of the frame but ultimately lost in the 10th. The long ball was the second since the All-Star break for Stassi, who is slashing .256/.302/.513 with seven RBI and five runs over 12 second-half contests.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Picks up second steal

Rutschman went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Friday's 1-0 win over the Pirates.

The rookie catcher was able to turn his patience into some fantasy value even without the benefit of a hit, snatching his second big-league stolen base. Rutschman has been locked in since the All-Star break, slashing .357/.526/.524 through his last 13 games with a 13:8 BB:K, seven doubles, three RBI and 10 runs. The 24-year-old hasn't quite unlocked all of his power potential yet, but he's well on his way to living up to the hype as the first overall pick in the 2019 Draft.
