  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Homers in loss

Wong went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 loss to Cincinnati.

Wong belted a solo home run in the second inning, his sixth of the season, and extended a hitting streak to 11 games (15-for-39). He's batting .335/.397/.471 for the season. There's no dramatic changes in his contact metrics to explain his breakout, and the BABIP (.395) warning signs are still there, but Wong has managed to avoid regression so far.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Perfect day at dish

Rutschman went 5-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Friday's loss to Houston.

Rutschman was a thorn in the side for Houston pitching all night but wasn't able to drive in any runs. His lone extra-base hit came during Baltimore's seven-run eighth inning right after a Gunnar Henderson homer. Rutschman fell into a small eight-game slump, going 4-for-30 (.133) during that span, but has since gone 8-for-10 with two walks and five runs scored over his last two games. He's slashing .305/.352/.485 with 53 RBI and 41 runs scored through 71 games.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Swats go-ahead homer

Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 6-5 win over the Twins.

Langeliers took Jhoan Duran deep in the eighth inning, giving the Athletics the lead for good. This was Langeliers' 14th homer of the year, though he's gone deep just twice over 16 games in June while batting .196 (11-for-56). The catcher is at a .207/.265/.445 slash line across 249 plate appearances this season, and he's added 39 RBI, 24 runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Carson Kelly C | TEX

Tigers' Carson Kelly: Homers in win

Kelly went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a 2-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

Kelly's long ball off Erick Fedde in the second inning was the difference in the game. The homer was Kelly's second in four starts, and he has registered a solid .267/.353/.500 slash line in nine June contests. On the season, Kelly is slashing .238/.324/.373 with four home runs and 17 RBI over 142 plate appearances.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

    Guardians' Bo Naylor: Idle again

Naylor is out of the lineup Friday against Toronto.

Naylor will ride the pine for a second consecutive game, giving way to Austin Hedges behind the dish Friday. Naylor is 5-for-28 (.178) in his last nine games with a 36.7 percent strikeout rate during that stretch.

  • David Fry DH | CLE

    Guardians' David Fry: Idle Friday

Fry is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays.

After making three straight starts -- one at catcher, two at DH -- Fry will take a seat Friday. Steven Kwan will DH and lead off while Austin Hedges catches and bats ninth. After batting .383 with seven homers in May, Fry has cooled off significantly in June, batting .208 without a home run in 52 plate appearances.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Headed to IL

Caratini (left hip flexor strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Thursday.

Caratini was lifted from Wednesday's game against the White Sox with soreness in his left quad, but imaging revealed he's in fact dealing with a left hip flexor strain. Cesar Salazar should see some catching work behind Yainer Diaz while Caratini is sidelined.

  • Austin Nola C | KC

Royals' Austin Nola: Sent to Triple-A

The Royals optioned Nola to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

The 34-year-old was called up by Kansas City last weekend but will lose his place on the 26-man roster as Hunter Renfroe (toe) returns from the injured list. Nola didn't see game action while up with the Royals.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Slugs two homers Thursday

Fermin went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in a 3-2 win over Oakland on Thursday.

Fermin accounted for both Royals runs against Oakland starter Mitch Spence, belting a solo shot in each of the second and fourth frames. The backstop had just two homers across 138 plate appearances coming into the contest, though he flashed some power by going deep nine times over 235 plate appearances last year. Fermin has swung a solid stick with a .303/.352/.447 slash line this season, and he's being rewarded with increased opportunities. Over Kansas City's past five games, Fermin has started four times (three times at catcher and once at DH).

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: On base five times in win

Rutschman went 3-for-5 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.

This was the catcher's second multi-hit effort over his last nine games, a span in which he's gone a meager 7-for-35 (.200). Rutschman started the year hot at the plate, but his struggles haven't cost him much playing time and he remains productive. He's hitting .293 with an .814 OPS, 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 39 runs scored and one stolen base over 70 contests this season.
