  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Rejoining team in Chicago

Garver (groin) will join the Twins in Chicago and could be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's doubleheader with the White Sox, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Manager Rocco Baldelli suggested the team will first re-evaluate Garver before determining whether he's fit to catch one of the two games of the twin bill. Baldelli also said Garver is feeling "really good," coming off a 4-for-16 showing at the plate during his four-game rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Twins' Ben Rortvedt: Returns to bench role

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Rortvedt will sit for the second game in a row after he drew a rare start in the front end of Saturday's doubleheader loss to the Tigers, during which he struck out in both of his at-bats. The rookie is batting just .129 across 78 plate appearances this season, and he'll be bound for Triple-A St. Paul as soon as Mitch Garver (groin) is deemed ready to return from the 10-day injured list.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Moves into timeshare at catcher

Jansen will start at catcher and bat ninth in the first half of Sunday's doubleheader with the Rangers.

Jansen will presumably sit in the second half of the doubleheader in favor of Reese McGuire, but the two appear to have moved into a timeshare at catcher since the former's return from the injured list earlier this month. Though he has slugged a solo home run in one of his first four starts back from the IL, Jansen has been one of the majors' least-productive hitters this season with a .559 OPS and 26.1 percent strikeout rate across 134 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Reese McGuire: Sitting Sunday afternoon

McGuire is not starting Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Rangers.

An .095 hitter against left-handed pitching, McGuire takes a seat as the Blue Jays match up against southpaw Kolby Allard. Danny Jansen will catch and bat ninth, with McGuire likely returning to the lineup Sunday evening.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Gets first game off

Heim is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Blue Jays.

Heim has been serving as Texas' clear No. 1 catcher for most of the month while Jose Trevino (forearm) has been on the shelf. He'll be given a breather for the first game of the doubleheader while John Hicks catches for Texas, but look for Heim to receive a turn behind the dish in the nightcap.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

    Tigers' Eric Haase: Sitting Sunday

Haase (head) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Haase will take a seat after he picked up starts in both ends of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Minnesota before exiting in the seventh inning of the second contest when he was struck in the head by a pitch. The Tigers haven't revealed whether Haase is dealing with a concussion, so it's possible that he's being held out of the lineup Sunday merely for rest purposes. Jake Rogers will catch for Wily Peralta in the series finale, while Derek Hill joins Akil Baddoo and Robbie Grossman in the outfield.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

White Sox's Zack Collins: Kicks off scoring

Collins went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Astros.

Not only did Collins guide ace Lucas Giolito through a complete-game gem, he opened the scoring for the White Sox with the first of back-to-back home runs in the third inning. Tim Anderson followed him with what turned out to be the game-winning hit. With Yasmani Grandal (knee) at least another two weeks away, Collins is expected to be the primary backstop during that time.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Exits after taking pitch to head

Haase exited Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Twins after being hit on the head by a pitch in the seventh inning, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. He went 0-for-2 in his previous at-bats prior to departing.

Haase appeared to want to stay in the game after taking a Hansel Robles fastball to the helmet, but the club played things safe by replacing him with Victor Reyes as a pinch runner. The backstop will likely undergo tests to see if there's any concern of him having suffered a concussion, and until another update is given, he can be considered day-to-day.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

    Angels' Max Stassi: Sitting Saturday

Stassi is not in Saturday's lineup against the Mariners.

He started the second half off with a bang, going 2-for-4 with a home run Friday. Stassi is hitting .322/.402/.578 with six home runs in 90 at-bats since the start of June. Kurt Suzuki will start behind the dish and bat seventh.

  • Sam Huff C | BAL

Rangers' Sam Huff: Reinstated, optioned to Double-A

The Rangers activated Huff (knee) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Double-A Frisco.

The catching prospect has been rehabbing in the minor leagues since June 28, hitting .244 with five home runs and 10 RBI in 11 games. Tyler Phillips was designated for assignment Saturday to open a 40-man roster spot for Huff.
