The lefty-hitting McGuire will retreat to the bench with southpaw Trevor Rogers on the hill for Miami. Riley Adams, a right-handed hitter, will serve as Toronto's catcher while batting eighth.

Astros' Garrett Stubbs: Optioned to Triple-A
Stubbs was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Stubbs spent nearly a week on the major-league roster, but he didn't make any starts and went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI in two appearances as a pinch hitter. He'll now head back to the minors as part of a transaction to make room for Kyle Tucker (illness), who was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday.

Stassi is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Stassi is likely receiving a breather with the Giants and Angels wrap up their two-game set with a day game after a night game. Kurt Suzuki will catch for starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani on Wednesday.

Murphy went 1-for-3 with a run and a strikeout Tuesday, but he continues to alternate starts behind the plate. Luis Torrens will start at catcher and bat sixth.

Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Tuesday's 13-6 win over the Rangers.
Murphy doubled off Demarcus Evans in the ninth inning, knocking in a pair of runs to extend the lead. Also, he scored in the third frame on a Mark Canha single. The catcher is slashing .221/.330/.427 with nine home runs and 38 RBI in 233 plate appearances. He has reached base safely in his last seven games.

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Scores as pinch runner
Wong entered the game as the runner on second base to start the 11th inning and scored the game-winning run in Tuesday's 9-5 win over Tampa Bay.
Wong served as a pinch runner for J.D. Martinez, who was the scheduled runner to start the 11th. He came around to score on Rafael Devers' two-run double. Wong is up with the Red Sox after the team placed Kevin Plawecki (hamstring) on the injured list.

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Belts fifth homer
Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Reds.
Jeffers put the Twins on the board with the two-run shot during the fourth inning, and he also came around to score after hitting a single during the eighth. The 24-year-old has hit well with a .255 average, five homers and 13 RBI in 15 games since rejoining the Twins in early June when Mitch Garver (groin) landed on the injured list.

Higashioka went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's loss to the Royals.
Higashioka took Brady Singer deep in the second inning, his first long ball since May 8. The 31-year-old backup catcher now has six long balls on the season while batting .191/.273/.438 across 34 games.
