Narvaez is not starting Wednesday against the Yankees, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Narvaez has started the past six games -- two at DH and four behind the dish -- but he'll head to the bench for Wednesday's series finale with the Mariners playing in the afternoon following a night game. Over his past 10 games, Narvaez is slashing .243/.326/.459 with two home runs, six RBI and a 5:7 BB:K. Tom Murphy is starting behind the dish in his place against lefty James Paxton.

Murphy is a candidate to be called up as a third catcher when rosters expand Sunday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Despite multiple knee injuries this season, Murphy has enjoyed a strong campaign at Triple-A Las Vegas. The 24-year-old is slashing .324/.406/.676 with 17 extra-base hits (six doubles, one triple, 10 home runs) and 29 RBI across 128 plate appearances over 28 games with the Aviators. Murphy has yet to get his first taste of the majors outside of this year's spring training invite, a stint during which he made a strong impression on manager Bob Melvin. However, Murphy's callup is far from a sure thing, considering veteran Dustin Garneau remains an option for the same spot.

Vazquez went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in a victory over Colorado on Tuesday.

Vazquez went deep in the fourth inning to notch his 19th home run. The 29-year-old has shown no signs of wearing down despite setting a career high in games played this season, hitting .291 with three long balls, eight doubles and 10 RBI in August. He has started Boston's last 10 games.

Trevino is not in the the lineup Tuesday against the Angels.

Trevino sits for the third time in four games. Jeff Mathis starts in his absence.

Nola is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Yankees, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Nola sits after starting 11 straight games, a stretch in which he hit .318/.400/.568. Daniel Vogelbach starts at first base in his absence, with Omar Narvaez serving as the designated hitter.

Thaiss remains on the bench Tuesday against lefty Mike Minor and the Rangers.

Thaiss sits for the fourth time in six games, though five of those six contests have come against lefty starters. Albert Pujols starts at first base, with David Fletcher at the hot corner.

Maile (oblique) has resumed throwing and catching and will start hitting soon, Alexis Brudnicki of MLB.com reports.

Maile has been out for a month with an oblique strain. He appears to be on track to return before the end of the season but is unlikely to do so before rosters expand at the start of September.

Jansen remains on the bench Tuesday against the Braves.

Jansen hits the bench in favor of Reese McGuire for the third time in four games. Jansen has hit just .179/.273/.359 over his last 25 games.

Plawecki went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI on Sunday in the Indians' 9-8 loss to the Royals in 10 innings.

Plawecki put the Indians on the board with a two-run shot off Royals starter Eric Skoglund in the third inning, then tied the game in the seventh with an RBI single. The backstop was making just his second start in seven games and isn't expected to see his playing time dramatically increase moving forward with Roberto Perez locked in as Cleveland's top catcher.

Maldonado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Angels.

This was a 2-1 game in the seventh inning when Maldonado's two-run homer provided breathing room for the Astros, who later went on to plate seven runs in the eighth inning to make it a blowout. He's hitting just .162 (6-for-37) since joining Houston, but three of his six hits have left the yard.
