Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Sitting Friday
Vazquez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports.
Vazquez heads to the bench after starting three of the last four games, going 2-for-13 with two runs and an RBI. Blake Swihart will start behind the plate and bat eighth for Boston.

James McCann C | ARI
Tigers' James McCann: Out of Thursday's lineup
McCann is not in the lineup versus Minnesota on Thursday.
McCann will receive a standard day off after starting the first two games of this series behind the plate, during which he's gone 3-for-7 with a double and three RBI. Grayson Greiner will handle the catching duties and bat sixth.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Twins' Mitch Garver: Makes first appearance in two weeks
Garver (concussion) entered Wednesday's 11-4 win over the White Sox in the bottom of the eighth inning as a pinch hitter, fouling out to left field in his lone at-bat. He stayed in the game to play first base in the top of the ninth.
Garver's appearance marked his first game action since Sept. 12 after he had been embedded in MLB's concussion protocol. The fact that Garver was summoned from the bench Wednesday suggests that he's passed all phases of the protocol and will face no limitations going forward, though the Twins may be reluctant to use him behind the plate, where he would seemingly be more susceptible to a setback. Minnesota might be more willing to deploy Garver in the lineup at first base or designated hitter over its final five games of the season, however.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Receives breather
Sanchez is not in the lineup versus Tampa Bay on Thursday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
Sanchez will head to the bench following five straight starts, during which he's gone 3-for-19 with five RBI and seven strikeouts. Austin Romine will catch CC Sabathia and bat eighth in his absence.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Twins' Mitch Garver: Cleared to hit
Garver (concussion) has been cleared to hit, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Garver has been sidelined since Sept. 12 with a concussion, but he's been cleared to hit after passing his latest round of tests. While the backstop is trending in the right direction, the Twins have no reason to push their luck and force him back into action with the team out of playoff contention.

Austin Wynns C | ATH
Orioles' Austin Wynns: Hits bench for Game 2 of twin bill
Wynns is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Wynns will sit for the second half of Wednesday's twin bill after catching all nine innings during Game 1, going 1-for-3 with a walk. Caleb Joseph will start behind the dish and hit ninth in his stead.

Yan Gomes C | CHC
Indians' Yan Gomes: Takes seat Wednesday
Gomes is not in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Gomes will take a seat for Wednesday's series finale after starting the first two games of the series, going 2-for-8 with a walk and a solo homer in those contests. Roberto Perez will set up behind the dish and hit ninth in place of Gomes.
-
Roberto Perez C | BOS
Indians' Roberto Perez: Back in action
Perez (shoulder) is starting at catcher and hitting ninth Wednesday against the White Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Perez is good to go after missing the last two games with a shoulder contusion. The backup catcher is hitting just .156/.251/.246 through 59 games this season.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Ends power drought
Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and four RBI in the Yankees' 9-2 win over the Rays on Tuesday.
Sanchez drove in three on his 17th big fly of the season, punctuating the Yankees' seven-run outburst in the third inning. It was just the second extra-base hit in 12 games for Sanchez, who has hurt fantasy owners further with a .150 average over that stretch. Despite his struggles since returning from the disabled list earlier this month, Sanchez's stable playing time and power upside are enough to make him a usable option in fantasy lineups the rest of the way, especially given the lack of appealing alternatives at catcher.
