  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Exits early after HBP

Kelly exited Sunday's contest against the Dodgers in the bottom of the sixth inning after being hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Kelly was hit in the left hand by a 93.6 mph sinker from Tyler Glasnow, remaining in the game for another inning before exiting. Considering he was able to briefly play through the injury, it appears as if Kelly avoided any catastrophic injury, but more information on his status will likely be provided in the near future. In the meantime, Miguel Amaya replaced him behind the plate, batting eighth against the Dodgers on Sunday.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Drawing Sunday's start

Herrera will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Brewers.

He'll pick up his sixth start of the season while top backstop Gabriel Moreno rests for the day game after a night game. Herrera enters Sunday's contest with a .214 average and one home run over 14 at-bats on the season.

  • Mets' Hayden Senger: Returning to bench role

Senger is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Senger had started behind the dish in six of the previous seven games, but he'll likely see his playing time take a hit now that Luis Torrens has recovered from a bruised forearm. Senger may soon find himself off the 26-man active roster entirely, as Francisco Alvarez (hand) has already begun a minor-league rehab assignment and is nearing reinstatement from the 10-day injured list.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Getting Sunday off

Moreno is not in the Diamondbacks' starting lineup against the Brewers on Sunday.

Moreno will rest for the series finale while Jose Herrera starts behind home plate and bats ninth against Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Moreno has gone 1-for-12 with two walks, one run scored and three strikeouts over his last four starts.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Three more hits Saturday

Ruiz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Saturday's loss to the Marlins.

The backstop extended his current hitting streak to six games, and he's hit safely in 12 of 13 contests to kick off 2025. That's resulted in an eye-popping .370/.442/.543 slash line for Ruiz with two homers, nine runs and 10 RBI as he shoulders a heavy early workload for the Nats.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Remains out Sunday

Bart (back) is not in the Pirates' starting lineup against the Reds on Sunday.

Bart continues to work through lower-back discomfort and will miss a second straight game as a result. Henry Davis will once again start behind home plate and bat ninth against Reds right-hander Hunter Greene.

  • Rob Brantly C | MIA

Marlins' Rob Brantly: Making 2025 debut Sunday

Brantly is starting at catcher and batting ninth against the Nationals on Sunday.

Brantly will make his first major-league start of the season Sunday as Liam Hicks gets a rest day. Brantly last played for the Marlins in 2013, slashing .211/.263/.265 with 15 walks, 11 runs scored, one home run and 18 RBI across 243 plate appearances.

  • Liam Hicks C | MIA

Marlins' Liam Hicks: Out of Sunday's lineup

Hicks is not in the Marlins' starting lineup against the Nationals on Sunday.

With the Nationals sending southpaw MacKenzie Gore to the mound, Hicks will retreat to the dugout while Rob Brantly catches and bats ninth. The lefty-hitting Hicks had gone 1-for-6 with two runs scored over the first two games of the series.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

    Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Sitting Sunday

Pages is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup against the Phillies on Sunday.

Pages has started the Cardinals' last four games and has gone 4-for-15 with one run scored and one RBI over that span. He'll be rested Sunday while Yohel Pozo starts behind home plate and bats eighth against Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

    Reds' Jose Trevino: Resting Sunday

Trevino is not in the Reds' starting lineup against the Pirates on Sunday.

Trevino went 1-for-6 with one RBI over the first two games of the series. He'll be rested for the series finale as Austin Wynns serves behind home plate and bats ninth against Pirates right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski.
