  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Ends power drought

Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over Atlanta.

His third-inning shot off Charlie Morton capped a seven-run frame for the Mets and chased the veteran right-hander from the game. Alvarez snapped a 20-game homerless drought with the blast, a stretch in which he batted just .215 (14-for-65) with five RBI. Despite the power outage, the 22-year-old backstop has an impressive .273/.342/.448 slash line on the season in 51 contests.

  • Dodgers' Hunter Feduccia: Headed to majors

The Dodgers recalled Feduccia from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Feduccia has slashed .295/.420/.451 with 42 RBI across 274 plate appearances in Triple-A, and he'll now come up from the minors to give the Dodgers some additional depth behind the plate. The 27-year-old backstop doesn't have a clear path to playing time with Will Smith and Austin Barnes both still on the MLB roster, but if he's able to get into a game, it will mark his major-league debut.

  • Cubs' Christian Bethancourt: Added to roster

The Cubs selected Bethancourt's contract from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Bethancourt will fill the roster spot vacated by Tomas Nido (knee) and will share catching duties with Miguel Amaya while Nido recuperates. The 32-year-old slashed just .159/.198/.268 across 88 plate appearances with the Marlins earlier this season.

  • Tomas Nido C | DET

Cubs' Tomas Nido: To IL with sprained knee

The Cubs placed Nido on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right knee sprain, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Nido will be eligible to return in early August but given the nature of the injury, it seems unlikely that he'll be ready by then. Miguel Amaya and Christian Bethancourt will handle the catching duties for the Cubs.

  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: Sitting again

Higashioka is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles.

Higashioka is absent from the starting lineup for a second straight contest, yielding to Luis Campusano behind the dish. Higashioka has gone 5-for-15 with two doubles and a homer since the All-Star break.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Not in Friday's lineup

Murphy is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Mets.

Travis d'Arnaud has started each of the first two games of the series against the Mets and has made four starts to Murphy's three since the All-Star break. Murphy had two hits in his last start Wednesday, but before that he had been hitless across his last five contests.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Sitting down Thursday

Murphy isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Murphy will get a breather after going 2-for-4 during Wednesday's game against the Reds, allowing Travis d'Arnaud to catch for lefty Chris Sale during Thursday's series opener.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Not in Thursday's lineup

Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday against the Giants, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Smith will be held out of Thursday's series finale after going 0-for-10 with two walks over the first three games of the series. Austin Barnes will start instead behind the dish, batting eighth.

  • Rockies' Jacob Stallings: Big game against Boston

Stallings went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Stallings contributed significantly to the Rockies' 20-run outburst, accounting for his first multi-RBI performance since June 12. With Elias Diaz seemingly past his calf injury, Stallings should be relegated to more of a backup role.

  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: Receives breather Thursday

Higashioka is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

The Padres and Nationals are wrapping up their series with a day game, so Higashioka will get a breather after he caught nine innings while going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Wednesday night's 12-3 win. Luis Campusano will step in for Higashioka behind the plate.
