  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: Resting Saturday

Higashioka isn't in the Padres' lineup for Saturday's game against Cleveland.

Higashioka went 0-for-2 with a walk during Friday's loss, and he'll now get a day to regroup after being held hitless in each of his last three games. Luis Campusano will take over behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Resting Saturday

Ruiz isn't in the Nationals' lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Ruiz will take a seat Saturday after hitting his seventh home run of the season during Friday's victory. In his place, Riley Adams will start behind the dish and bat fifth.

  • Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Optioned to Triple-A

The Phillies optioned Marchan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

J.T. Realmuto (knee) was activated from the injured list Saturday, squeezing Marchan off the big-league roster. The 25-year-old backstop owns a solid .894 OPS through 56 plate appearances with the Phillies, though he'll remain in the minors as long as Realmuto and Garrett Stubbs are both active.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Activated from IL

The Phillies reinstated Realmuto (knee) from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Realmuto has been on the injured list since June 11 after undergoing right meniscus surgery. Manager Rob Thomson said before the All-Star break that it was unlikely the 33-year-old backstop would return during the weekend series, but Realmuto's progressed through his recovery faster than expected and will be active for Saturday's game versus Pittsburgh. Rafael Marchan will head back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move, and Realmuto will reclaim his spot as Philadelphia's everyday catcher after slashing .261/.309/.411 during the first half.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

    Pirates' Joey Bart: Idle Saturday

Bart isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Bart went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts during Friday's win, and he'll sit down Saturday while Yasmani Grandal gets the nod at catcher and bats ninth.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Swats seventh homer

Ruiz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's win over the Reds.

The backstop took Frankie Montas deep in the fourth inning, capping a four-run outburst for the Nationals that put them in the lead for good. Ruiz has seven homers on the season, but three of them have come in his last eight games -- a stretch in which he's batting .300 (9-for-30) with two doubles, six runs and eight RBI.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Sitting for matinee

Murphy isn't in Atlanta's lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Travis d'Arnaud will start behind the plate for the first game of Saturday's twin bill, making Murphy the likely choice to start at catcher during the nightcap.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Three hits in win

Moreno went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 5-3 win over the Cubs.

It's an encouraging start to the second half for Moreno after he'd gone just 2-for-17 in six games prior to the All-Star break. The 24-year-old backstop opened the scoring with an RBI single off Justin Steele in the third inning. Overall, Moreno's slashing .251/.336/.374 with four homers, 32 RBI and 30 runs scored across 268 plate appearances this season.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Could return this weekend

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that Realmuto (knee) is "very close" and could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as this weekend, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Thomson had said just before the All-Star break that it was unlikely Realmuto would return this weekend for a series against the Pirates, but evidently the catcher is progressing more quickly than expected. Realmuto had right meniscus surgery in mid-June, and he's been upping his workouts lately without issue. It would appear he will not need a rehab assignment before being activated.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Absent from Friday's lineup

Murphy is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Murphy sat out the final game before the All-Star break and will also begin the first contest after the break on the bench. Travis d'Arnaud will do the catching for Spencer Schwellenbach.
