  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: On bench Tuesday, still sore

D'Arnaud is still feeling pain in his wrist and is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

D'Arnaud was hit by a pitch in the wrist Saturday and was held out of Sunday's game due to the issue. While he carries a day-to-day designation, the catcher is still experiencing soreness. Sean Murphy will be behind the dish and bat fifth Tuesday.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Getting day off

Ruiz is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Rockies, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

It looks to be a routine day off for Ruiz. Riley Adams will get the start versus lefty Austin Gomber, marking the second time in as many games that he's been in there against a southpaw.

  • Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Day off Tuesday

Del Castillo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Miami.

Del Castillo cracked a grand slam and drove in six runs in the series opener versus the Marlins on Monday, but he'll receive some rest a day later. Jose Herrera will do the catching for the Diamondbacks.

  • Rockies' Jacob Stallings: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Stallings is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Nationals.

Drew Romo will start at catcher while Stallings hits the bench Tuesday. Stallings and Romo have now received two starts apiece since the latter joined the major-league roster following Elias Diaz's release, and the two seem likely to continue splitting catching duties down the stretch.

  • Tom Murphy C | SF

Giants' Tom Murphy: Begins hitting, running

Giants manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Murphy (knee) has begun a hitting and running progression and could be an option to return from the 60-day injured list in September, MLB.com reports.

Murphy has been on the shelf since May 5 with a left knee injury that was categorized as between a Grade 1 and Grade 2 sprain. The backstop hasn't recovered from the injury as quickly as anticipated, but he seems to be responding better after visiting Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles in late July and receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection for the knee. The Giants likely won't be able to pinpoint a more precise target date for Murphy's return until he's cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Believes injury is minor

Bailey (side) said after Monday's 5-3 win over the White Sox that he was scratched from the lineup for precautionary reasons, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

The Giants are labeling Bailey as day-to-day with right side tightness, but the catcher's comments imply that he's avoided an oblique strain. Still, Bailey could be given another day off Tuesday, in which case Curt Casali would be in line for a start behind the plate.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Breaks homer drought

Fortes went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly during Monday's 9-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Fortes' streak of at-bats without a home run came was snapped at 139 when the catcher tagged Brandon Pfaadt for a solo shot in the third inning. In three games since being activated from the injured list, Fortes is 3-for-9 with three RBI. He's slashing .223/.247/.308 with three home runs across 240 plate appearances this season.

  • Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Plates six in win

Del Castillo went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a two-RBI single during Monday's 9-6 win over the Marlins.

Del Castillo's excellent rookie campaign got even better Monday, as he delivered his first career grand slam as part of a six-RBI day. The 24-year-old has homered in back-to-back games and is slashing .333/.405/.668 through 37 plate appearances. Del Castillo has been working on the strong side of a platoon with Jose Herrera behind the dish, and with Gabriel Moreno (adductor) not close to returning, Del Castillo should continue to see plenty of catching work.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Plays hero Monday

Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Monday's 4-3 win over the Orioles.

Alvarez took Seranthony Dominguez yard on a 3-0 pitch with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, breaking the 3-3 tie and giving New York the victory. Alvarez is 10-for-44 (.227) with a home run and a triple in August.

  • Ivan Herrera C | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Heating up at Triple-A

Herrera (shoulder) has gone 8-for-19 with a home run, a stolen base and two walks in five games since returning to the Triple-A Memphis lineup Tuesday.

Herrera was held out for a little over a week earlier in the month while recovering from a left shoulder sprain, but he's since been given the green light to return and has looked dialed in at the dish. He's now slashing .345/.457/.448 through eight games in August.
