  • Giants' Daniel Susac: On bench Friday

Susac isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Susac will miss a third consecutive start Friday after going 2-for-8 with a steal in three games since his return from the injured list last weekend. Drew Cavanaugh will handle catching duties and bat ninth.

  • Pirates' Rafael Flores: Lands on concussion injured list

The Pirates placed Flores on the 7-day concussion injured list Friday.

It's unclear when Flores suffered the concussion, but he will be sidelined for at least the next week. With Endy Rodriguez (glute) starting a rehab assignment Friday, Flores is likely to be optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis once healthy.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Idle Friday

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Ruiz will ride the bench despite the Nationals having an off day Thursday. Harry Ford will be behind the plate and batting seventh for Washington.

  • Payton Henry C | PHI

Phillies' Payton Henry: Contracted selected by Philadelphia

The Phillies selected Henry's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

With Rafael Marchan hitting the 10-day injured list, Philadelphia selected Henry's contract to add catching depth. The 29-year-old has spent time with both the Yankees' and Phillies' Triple-A affiliates this season, slashing .201/.285/.291 with four homers and 14 RBI in 200 plate appearances. In order to add Henry to the 40-man roster, Philadelphia transferred Brad Keller to the 60-day IL.

  • Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Placed on IL

The Phillies placed Marchan (knee) on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 23.

After Marchan left Wednesday's game early against the Dodgers with left knee pain, Philadelphia officially transferred him to the IL on Friday. In 92 plate appearances, the 27-year-old has slashed .102/.141/.170 with just two homers and six RBI this season. The Phillies selected Payton Henry's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill Marchan's spot on the active roster.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Starting up rehab assignment

Rodriguez (glute) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, Aiden Stepansky of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez has been sidelined for two-plus weeks with a left glute strain, but he has been cleared to test things out in game action. Because his absence has been brief, the 26-year-old shouldn't need many rehab at-bats before rejoining the active roster. Once reinstated, Rodriguez is likely to share catching duties with Henry Davis.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Slugs 19th homer

Baldwin went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Padres.

The 25-year-old backstop wrapped up the scoring for Atlanta when he took Matt Waldron deep in the seventh inning. It was Baldwin's 19th homer of the year and his fourth in seven games since the All-Star break -- a stretch in which he's batting a scorching .481 (13-for-27) with eight runs, nine RBI and a 6:2 BB:K.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Cleared for rehab assignment

Murphy (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday, Harrison Smajovits of SI.com reports.

Murphy has been limited to only four games for Atlanta this season, first due to offseason hip surgery and more recently because of a fractured left middle finger that's kept him shelved since mid-May. The veteran catcher should be ready to rejoin the active roster in early August if all goes well on his rehab assignment.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Exiting starting nine

Campusano is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Atlanta.

Campusano started behind the dish each of the last two days, so he'll get a break during Thursday's matinee. Freddy Fermin will do the catching and bat seventh for the Padres.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Joins HR party

Moreno went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 15-5 win over the Athletics.

Moreno hit the first of three Arizona home runs during a seven-run fifth inning and one of five the team slugged overall. The blast was his first in 28 games and seventh of the season. Moreno's been on a tear this month, going 23-for-63 (.365) with a .920 OPS across 17 contests in July.
