Joey Bart C | PIT
Giants' Joey Bart: Out with back strain
Bart was diagnosed with a mid-back strain and was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to March 31.
The 26-year-old was scheduled to make his first start of the season Saturday but was scratched with the back injury, and he will now be sidelined until at least April 11. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Bart may require only the 10-day minimum on the shelf, so he could return when first eligible. In the meantime, Roberto Perez and Blake Sabol should split catching duties for the Giants.

William Contreras C | MIL
Brewers' William Contreras: Receives Sunday off
Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Contreras started behind the plate in his first two games with Milwaukee and will get a breather after he went 2-for-8 with two RBI and four strikeouts. Victor Caratini will step in at catcher for the series finale in Chicago.

Willson Contreras C | BOS
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Back in action Sunday
Contreras (knee) is starting at catcher and batting fifth Sunday against the Blue Jays, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
The 30-year-old sat out Saturday's matchup with Toronto after he suffered the knee injury during Thursday's season opener, but he was diagnosed with a bruise after being evaluated and will miss only one contest. Contreras made a strong impression in his debut with the Cardinals prior to the injury, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Omar Narvaez C | HOU
Mets' Omar Narvaez: On bench versus lefty
Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Narvaez is 3-for-7 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored, but he'll take a seat Sunday with lefty Trevor Rogers on the mound for Miami. Tomas Nido will work behind the plate in the series finale, batting eighth.

Joey Bart C | PIT
Giants' Joey Bart: Remains out of lineup
Bart (back) is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Bart is reportedly undergoing scans after being scratched from Saturday's lineup with tightness in his back, and those results have not yet become public. The backstop sits again for the series finale with Blake Sabol hitting seventh as the starting catcher.

Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Pops first homer of 2023
Ruiz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-1 loss to Atlanta.
The catcher took Kirby Yates deep in the ninth inning to ruin Atlanta's combined shutout bid, but it was about the only bright spot on the afternoon for the Nats. Ruiz is off to a good start at the plate, going 4-for-8 with a double and a homer through Washington's first two games. Even if the 24-year-old switch hitter has a breakout campaign, the feeble lineup around him dampens his fantasy potential.

Nick Fortes C | TB
Marlins' Nick Fortes: Provides only runs for Miami
Fortes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-2 loss against the Mets.
Fortes turned a one-run deficit into a one-run lead with his swing of the bat in the second inning, but that was all the offense the Marlins would be able to muster. It was his second consecutive start at catcher after Jacob Stallings got the Opening Day nod behind the plate. Fortes showed considerable offensive upside for a catcher last season with nine home runs and five steals in just 240 plate appearances.

Joey Bart C | PIT
Giants' Joey Bart: Will undergo scan
Bart was unavailable off the bench for Saturday's contest and he will undergo a scan on his back before Sunday's game against the Yankees, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
Bart picked up the injury during batting practice, Kapler said. The backstop should be considered day-to-day until the results of the imaging are available. Roberto Perez got the start in Bart's place Saturday and could be back in the lineup for Sunday's finale against the Yankees.

Tyler Stephenson C | CIN
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Scores twice in win
Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Pirates.
After a 1-for-4 showing in the opener, Stephenson followed up with two more hits Saturday, including his first extra-base knock of the season. He was in the cleanup spot against lefty Rich Hill just as he was Thursday against right-hander Mitch Keller. However, this time he was at first base, and he will continue to get starts at first occasionally even when Joey Votto (shoulder) returns. The Reds need Stephenson's bat in the lineup.
