Fortes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Fortes remains Miami's No. 2 catcher, but the Marlins have opened up a near-everyday role for him of late by giving him more work at designated hitter. He went 3-for-12 with a pair of solo home runs and walks while starting each of the past four games, but Fortes will take a seat Sunday with Jacob Stallings behind the plate and with Jesus Aguilar in the lineup at DH.

Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
He'll be getting some routine maintenance after going 4-for-11 with three home runs, two walks and six RBI while catching each of the past three contests. Yan Gomes will spell Contreras behind the dish.

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Out against lefty
Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Narvaez started at catcher in his return from the 10-day injured list in Saturday's 6-5 loss in 11 innings, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Though he should see the bulk of the starts behind the plate moving forward, the lefty-hitting Narvaez will bow out of the lineup Sunday with Chicago bringing a southpaw (Justin Steele) to the hill. Victor Caratini will catch for starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff in the series finale.

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Suffers dislocated finger
Amaya is day-to-day after suffering a dislocated ring finger on his right hand, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Amaya was activated from the minor-league injured list on July 22 after recovering from Tommy John surgery early in the season. He has served solely as the designated hitter for Double-A Tennessee since but will be sidelined for at least a brief period of time. Amaya has hit fairly well in his limited playing time, maintaining a .254/.354/.373 line across 79 plate appearances.

Mets' Tomas Nido: May require rehab assignment
Nido (illness) may require a rehab assignment prior to being activated from the injured list, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Nido was expected back for the team's weekend series against the Phillies, though he is not yet ready to return. He's been sidelined since Aug. 13, so he likely wouldn't need a long rehab stint prior to returning.

Pirates' Tyler Heineman: Sits against southpaw
Heineman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
The switch-hitting Heineman will give way to the righty-hitting Jason Delay at catcher while southpaw Mike Minor takes the hill for Cincinnati. Heineman appears set to occupy the large side of a platoon at catcher following his return from the injured list Wednesday.

Godoy was designated for assignment Sunday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Godoy was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Aug. 17 and is now cast off the 40-man roster. Cam Vieaux had his contract selected in the corresponding move.

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Activated from IL
Diaz (wrist) was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday.
Diaz had been sidelined since Aug. 11 with a left wrist sprain and will return without embarking on a rehab assignment. He's expected to split time with Brian Serven behind the plate for the remainder of the season, though Diaz will be out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale with the Giants, per Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com. Dom Nunez was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in the corresponding move.

Mets' James McCann: Resting Sunday
McCann is not in Sunday's lineup against the Phillies, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
McCann was also out of the lineup Friday prior to splitting the team's doubleheader with Michael Perez on Saturday. Perez will take over behind the dish again Sunday while hitting ninth.
