Maldonado is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Maldonado clubbed his fourth home run of the season in Tuesday's win over the Nationals, but he'll grab a seat in Wednesday's afternoon contest. Elias Diaz will start at catcher and bat ninth for the Padres.

Bart is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Bart went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in the series opener Monday and is now out of the lineup in favor of Henry Davis for the second day in a row. The two catchers have been sharing reps behind the plate since Bart returned from the 7-day injured list last week, with Bart receiving five starts to Davis' four.

Herrera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

After starting in eight of the Diamondbacks' last nine games, Herrera will receive a breather for the day game following a night game. Though he's been operating as the Diamondbacks' No. 1 catcher since Gabriel Moreno (finger) landed on the injured list last Thursday, Herrera could end up settling into a timeshare with the newly signed James McCann once McCann gets more acclimated with the Arizona pitching staff. McCann will make his team debut behind the dish Wednesday, forming a battery with starting pitcher Zac Gallen.

Contreras is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Contreras will get a rare day off after he had started at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Brewers' last 17 games. Eric Haase will step in behind the plate and bat ninth in Wednesday's series finale.

Maldonado went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.

Maldonado is just 3-for-16 over his last nine games, though two of those hits have gone for extra bases. The catcher helped the Padres' comeback effort with a game-tying blast in the fifth inning to finish erasing a three-run deficit. Maldonado is up to four homers, eight RBI, eight runs scored and a .189/.232/.330 slash line over 116 plate appearances in a part-time role behind the plate. He continues to see a slight edge over Elias Diaz for playing time, which has been the case for much of June.

The Nationals recalled Millas from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Millas has spent the entire season in Triple-A, where he's slashed .247/.306/.374 across 209 plate appearances. With Keibert Ruiz (head) headed to the injured list, Millas will join the big club to act as the backup catcher behind Riley Adams.

The Nationals placed Ruiz on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a head contusion.

A foul ball connected with Ruiz's head during Monday's contest, though after evaluation, it seems he managed to escape the incident with only a bruise. Riley Adams will take over as the Nationals' primary catcher while Ruiz is out, and Drew Millas will come up from Triple-A Rochester to provide depth behind the plate.

Ruiz (head) was taken to a local hospital for a CT scan after leaving Monday's game against the Padres, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Ruiz was struck by a foul ball while in the dugout and sent for further evaluation after a lump formed on the left side of his head, per Zuckerman. Riley Adams would be in line for more chances behind the plate if Ruiz is forced to miss time.

Ruiz was removed from Monday's game against the Padres after suffering an apparent head injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Ruiz was in the dugout when he was struck by a foul ball off the bat of teammate Josh Bell in the top of the fourth inning. Ruiz was later replaced by Riley Adams.

Amaya (oblique) has started a hitting program, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Amaya began a throwing program June 15, and he has now started to do work from the plate as well. Manager Craig Counsell said Monday that the team is targeting a return for the catcher around the All-Star break. Amaya has been on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique injury since May 24, but he appears to be on the cusp of launching a minor-league rehab assignment.
