Dodgers' Will Smith: Not starting Tuesday

Smith is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Padres, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.

Austin Barnes gets the nod behind the plate. Both backstops will now have started six times in the team's first 12 games.

  • Giants' Chadwick Tromp: Sitting out Tuesday

Tromp isn't starting in Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Tromp had blasted homers during the past two games as he's seen increased playing time behind the dish. However, Tyler Heineman will start at catcher Tuesday, batting sixth.

  • Cubs' Victor Caratini: On bench Tuesday

Caratini is not starting Tuesday against the Royals.

Caratini started seven of the first eight games for the Cubs but posted a poor .541 OPS. He's since gone on to sit for three straight. Kyle Schwarber will be the designated hitter Tuesday, with Steven Souza getting a start in left field.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Not starting Tuesday

D'Arnaud is not starting Tuesday against Toronto.

D'Arnaud has started four of seven games since making his season debut Wednesday. Tyler Flowers, who starts behind the plate Tuesday, has started three games over that stretch.

  • Pirates' Jacob Stallings: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Stallings will not start Tuesday against the Twins.

Stallings will sit for the fourth time in the season's first 11 games. John Ryan Murphy takes his place behind the plate.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Launches first homer

D'Arnaud went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-2 loss to the Mets.

Facing his former club, d'Arnaud took Jacob deGrom deep in the fifth inning to end his ex-batterymate's shutout bid. Since Atlanta got its veteran catching duo back from the injured list, d'Arnaud has started four games to Tyler Flowers' two, and he hasn't wasted the opportunities -- d'Arnaud has gone 6-for-15 (.400) with a homer and seven RBI, and as a bonus he even stole a base, his first successful swipe since 2014.

  • Giants' Chadwick Tromp: Goes deep again

Tromp went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI in Monday's loss to Colorado.

Tromp connected with his second homer in as many days with a 445-foot blast in the third inning Monday. He later drove in a run with a sacrifice fly as part of a solid ninth-inning comeback attempt by the Giants. With the 25-year-old swinging a hot bat, he'll likely see more playing time behind the plate for San Francisco.

  • Padres' Francisco Mejia: Not starting Monday

Mejia is not in the lineup Monday against the Dodgers.

Mejia had started the past two games at catcher, going 1-for-6 with a double and two strikeouts over that span. However, Austin Hedges will start behind the plate Monday, batting eighth.

  • Giants' Tyler Heineman: Sitting again Monday

Heineman isn't in the lineup Monday against the Rockies.

Heineman had alternated starts with Chadwick Tromp at catcher over the past few days. However, Tromp will start behind the dish for the second consecutive game Monday, batting eighth.

  • Cubs' Victor Caratini: Not starting Monday

Caratini is not in the lineup Monday against the Royals.

Although Caratini managed to carve out playing time as the Cubs' designated hitter to begin the season, he'll sit Monday for the second consecutive contest. Kris Bryant (illness) will return to the starting lineup in left field while Kyle Schwarber will serve as the designated hitter.
