Curt Casali C | ATL
Reds' Curt Casali: Drives in four in loss to Cubs
Casali went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 10-6 loss to the Cubs.
Getting the start at first base and hitting seventh, Casali blasted a three-run homer off Brandon Kintzler in the eighth inning, his fourth long ball in 35 games for the Reds. Casali's .333/.410/.552 slash line isn't sustainable -- he came into Saturday's contest with a .710 OPS in 195 career big-league games -- but as long as he's swinging a hot bat he'll keep finding his way into the lineup.

Mets' Kevin Plawecki: Nearing placement on paternity list
Plawecki will be put on paternity leave "any day now," Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
With Devin Mesoraco nursing a neck sprain, Tomas Nido is the only healthy catcher on New York's active roster at the moment. Until his wife goes into labor, Plawecki will likely continue to receive regular starts behind the plate, which is where he's situated for Friday's series opener against Washington.

Mets' Devin Mesoraco: Dealing with neck sprain
Mesoraco was diagnosed with a neck sprain and will require a few days off to recover, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Mesoraco added that he doesn't expect to go on the DL, but that may become an option if he's still dealing with discomfort by the end of the weekend. Prior to Friday's game, the Mets recalled Tomas Nido from the minors in order to serve as Kevin Plawecki's backup while Mesoraco is sidelined.

Mets' Devin Mesoraco: Remains day-to-day
Mesoraco is still considered day-to-day as he is evaluated for neck stiffness, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
Mesoraco was speculated to be placed on the disabled list earlier Friday, but the Mets instead optioned Dominic Smith and Jack Reinheimer to the minors to create roster space. Mesoraco was set to undergo an MRI after exiting Thursday's game, Ehalt reports, although the results are not yet known.

Mets' Devin Mesoraco: Lands on disabled list
Mesoraco (neck) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Mesoraco exited Thursday's game against the Giants due to neck stiffness, and apparently needs more than a day or two to recover. Tomas Nido was recalled from Double-A Binghamton in a corresponding move, as Kevin Plawecki remains the Mets primary option at catcher.

Mets' Tomas Nido: Joining Mets on Friday
Nido will be called up from Double-A Binghamton on Friday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Nido will likely take the roster place of Devin Mesoraco (neck), who appears to be headed for a stint on the DL. Across 21 games with the Mets this year, Nido has hit .159 with a .390 OPS and three RBI in 48 plate appearances. Expect Kevin Plawecki to receive the bulk of the starts behind the plate while Mesoraco is out.
