  • Joey Bart C | PIT

    Pirates' Joey Bart: Resting Tuesday

Bart is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Bart will yield to Yasmani Grandal behind the plate Tuesday after catching back-to-back games. Prior to the All-Star break, Bart seemed to supplant Grandal as the Pirates' preferred catcher, and he's caught three of Pittsburgh's first five contests coming out of the break.

  • Nick Fortes C | MIA

    Marlins' Nick Fortes: Sitting again

Fortes is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Fortes will be on the bench for a second consecutive game after committing three errors Sunday. Ali Sanchez will bat ninth and catch Tuesday.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Drives in only run Monday

Raleigh went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in a loss to the Angels on Monday.

Raleigh opened the scoring on the night with a first-inning single that plated J.P. Crawford (finger), a run that would turn out to be the only one for the Mariners. The 27-year-old snapped an 0-for-16, four-game skid that stretched back to the final game before the All-Star break with the timely knock, but he's now gone six straight contests without an extra-base hit.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Crushes homer in win

Perez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Monday's 10-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Perez put the Royals ahead for good with his third-inning homer and added a sacrifice fly in the sixth. The catcher is batting .268 (15-for-56) with four homers and 14 RBI over 15 contests in July. For the year, he's been a reliable power bat in the heart of the lineup with a .279/.341/.475 slash line, 18 homers, 66 RBI, 41 runs scored and 16 doubles through 98 games.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: On base three times in loss

Bailey went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Bailey went 0-for-8 over the first three games following the All-Star break, but Monday was his fifth multi-hit effort in July. The catcher's hitting .255 (12-for-47) this month and has been steady overall with a .278/.351/.419 slash line, seven home runs, three steals, 32 RBI and 32 runs scored across 73 contests this season.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Picks up second steal

O'Hoppe went 0-for-2, got hit by two pitches and stole a base in Monday's 3-1 win over the Mariners.

O'Hoppe has been plunked five times over his last 12 contests, and he's batting .286 (12-for-42) with a 1:10 BB:K in that span. The catcher took advantage of his times on base Monday, logging his second steal of the campaign on his fourth attempt. O'Hoppe is slashing .277/.333/.467 with 14 home runs, 42 RBI, 43 runs scored, 13 doubles and a triple over 86 games this season.

  • Astros' Cesar Salazar: Optioned to Sugar Land

The Astros optioned Salazar to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The move is to make room on the 26-man roster for Victor Caratini (hip), who was activated off the 10-day injured list Monday. Salazar has served as the backup catcher since he was initially called up June 11, and across nine major-league games he went 7-for-22 with two doubles and eight RBI. In Triple-A this season, Salazar is slashing .274/.387/.458 with six home runs and 35 RBI across 204 plate appearances.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Activated off injured list

The Astros activated Caratini (hip) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Caratini completed four rehab outings during his recovery from a strained left hip, going 4-for-10 with one home run and two RBI. To make room for Caratini on the 26-man roster, the Astros optioned Cesar Salazar to Triple-A Sugar Land.

  • Elias Diaz C | SD

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Sitting again Monday

Diaz (calf) is absent from the Rockies' lineup Monday against the Red Sox.

Diaz left in the third inning of Saturday's win over the Giants due to right calf tightness, and it appears to be bothering him enough to sideline him for a second straight game. Jacob Stallings will start behind the plate Monday and bat seventh against Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Launches seventh home run

Wells went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's win against the Rays.

The 25-year-old slugged the first of five Yankee home runs on the afternoon, going back-to-back with Anthony Volpe in the second inning. Wells continues to see regular playing time behind the plate, especially with Jose Trevino (quadriceps) on the shelf. Wells has compiled a .223 batting average with seven home runs, 21 RBI and 27 runs scored across 65 games this season.
