  • Zack Collins C | CLE

Pirates' Zack Collins: Remains out of lineup

Collins isn't starting Saturday against St. Louis.

Collins is out of the lineup for a third consecutive game since left-hander Jordan Montgomery is on the mound for the Cardinals. Diego Castillo will take his place at first base and bat sixth.

  • Braves' William Contreras: Out of lineup Saturday

Contreras isn't starting Saturday against the Mets.

Contreras went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Friday and will be excluded from the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Marcell Ozuna is serving as the designated hitter and batting seventh.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Not in lineup

Hedges will sit Saturday against the Royals.

Hedges has managed to start 94 games this season despite his awful .167/.241/.254 slash line, but his defense-first profile doesn't help fantasy teams. Exciting offense-first catcher prospect Bo Naylor was called up for the first time Saturday, but it will be Luke Maile who gets the nod behind the plate on this occasion.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Called up by Cleveland

Naylor was called up by the Guardians on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Naylor, whose brother Josh also plays for the Guardians, is one of the game's more interesting catching prospects. The 22-year-old doesn't have the greatest defensive reputation, though he's improved in that area this season. He's also hit .263/.392/.496 with 21 home runs and 20 steals in 118 games across the two highest levels of the minors. The Guardians have gotten a .495 OPS from Austin Hedges and a .604 OPS from Luke Maile this season, so Naylor seemingly doesn't have many obstacles to playing time, though the team could still prefer Hedges for his defense and game-calling, leaving Naylor to fight for at-bats as a designated hitter. He'll spend his first day with the big-league team watching from the bench.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Retreats to bench Saturday

Jeffers isn't starting Saturday against the Tigers.

Jeffers was productive during Friday's series opener in Detroit, going 2-for-5 with a triple, a run and an RBI. He'll head to the bench while Gary Sanchez starts behind the plate and bats seventh.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Day off Saturday

Raleigh isn't in the lineup Saturday against Oakland.

Raleigh ended the Mariners' 21-year playoff drought with a walkoff home run in the ninth inning Friday, and he'll retreat to the bench for a second consecutive game. Luis Torrens is starting behind the dish and batting cleanup Saturday.

  • Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Heads to bench Saturday

McGuire isn't starting Saturday against Toronto, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

McGuire has alternated starts behind the plate recently and will get a breather for Saturday's matchup. Connor Wong is starting at catcher and batting ninth.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Absent from Saturday's lineup

Trevino isn't starting Saturday against Baltimore.

Trevino went 0-for-3 with a strikeout during Friday's loss to the Orioles and will head to the bench for the third time in the last four games. Kyle Higashioka is starting behind the dish and batting eighth.

  • Tomas Nido C | DET

Mets' Tomas Nido: Crushes solo homer

Nido went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss against Atlanta.

Nido's eighth-inning shot was too little and too late, as the Mets were behind by four and it would turn out to be the final run of the game as Atlanta took the win. It was Nido's third homer of the season, all of which have come this month. The catcher has been heating up in September, slashing .333/.340/.608 and raising his season batting average from .224 to .243 over that span.

  • Austin Wynns C | TEX

Giants' Austin Wynns: Knocks third homer

Wynns went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Wynns has gone yard in two of his last four games, and he has multiple hits in five of his last eight. The surge has him up to a .264/.318/.365 slash line three homers, 21 RBI, 14 runs scored and seven doubles through 174 plate appearances. The 31-year-old has seen a slight uptick in playing time to go with his strong hitting, which has corresponded with Joey Bart hitting just .182 across 18 games in September.
