Travis d'Arnaud C | LAA
Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Idle for day game
D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.
D'Arnaud will get a breather for the day game after a night game, affording William Contreras a turn behind the dish. Atlanta started d'Arnaud at catcher in each of its last three games, with the 33-year-old going 2-for-11 with a home run, a triple, a walk, two RBI and an additional run across those contests.

Eric Haase C | SF
Tigers' Eric Haase: Takes seat Wednesday
Haase is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Haase had started at catcher or designated hitter in four of the past five games, but three of those starts came against left-handed pitching. The switch-hitting Tucker Barnhart is back behind the dish Wednesday and looks poised to occupy the larger side of a platoon at catcher moving forward.

Austin Hedges C | CLE
Guardians' Austin Hedges: No hits in return
Hedges (ankle) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Padres.
The Guardians mustered just four hits as a team, and Hedges wasn't involved on offense. He ultimately missed just two games with a right ankle sprain thanks to Sunday's rainout. The catcher is slashing .171/.255/.264 with six home runs, 23 RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base in 77 contests this year, and he should resume a starting role behind the dish.

Christian Bethancourt C | CHC
Rays' Christian Bethancourt: Homers in blowout win
Bethancourt went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 11-1 win over the Angels.
Bethancourt launched a solo homer off Jesse Chavez in the bottom of the seventh inning before ripping a two-run single later in the frame. The catcher has now gone deep in three straight starts and eight times this season overall. Since the beginning of August, Bethancourt has batted .270 with three home runs, five RBI, seven runs and a stolen base over 37 at-bats in 11 games.

Austin Hedges C | CLE
Guardians' Austin Hedges: Good to go Tuesday
Hedges (ankle) is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Tuesday at San Diego.
Hedges has been dealing with an ankle sprain over the past few days, but he's back in the lineup coming off Cleveland's scheduled day off Monday. The 30-year-old has a .161/.325/.194 slash line through 12 games in August.

Brian Serven C | ATH
Rockies' Brian Serven: Back on bench with Diaz healthy
Serven is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.
Elias Diaz will check back in behind the plate Tuesday after being reinstated from the injured list Sunday, spelling an end to Serven's three-game starting streak. The return of Diaz will also likely result in Serven falling into a timeshare at catcher, if not the clear-cut No. 2 role. While Diaz was on the shelf with the hand injury he picked up Aug. 10, Serven slashed .185/.267/.444.

Willson Contreras 1B | BOS
Cubs' Willson Contreras: Sitting Game 2 with ankle issue
Contreras is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals due to left ankle stiffness, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Contreras was held out of the lineup for Chicago's victory in Game 1 after waking up with the stiffness, though he's expected to be available off the bench in the nightcap. The 30-year-old initially suffered the injury during the Field of Dreams Game against the Reds on Aug. 11 and aggravated the issue last week versus the Orioles on a play at the plate. P.J. Higgins will start at catcher in Game 2 for the Cubs.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Recalled from Triple-A
Adams was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.
Tres Barrera was optioned to Triple-A on Monday, so Adams will take his place as the backup catcher. Adams has a .224/.317/.411 slash line at Triple-A and a .192/.284/.321 slash line in the majors.

Tyler Heineman C | LAA
Pirates' Tyler Heineman: Takes seat Tuesday
Heineman is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
The switch-hitting Heineman will bow out of the starting nine versus Atlanta southpaw Max Fried, with the righty-hitting Jason Delay getting the nod at catcher. The two backstops are expected to work in a timeshare moving forward, with Heineman likely drawing most of the starts versus right-handed pitching.

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: May not play in 2022
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch admitted Tuesday that Rogers (elbow) has yet to be cleared for a rehab assignment and is running out of time to return from the 60-day injured list this season, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Rogers, who underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Sept. 8, 2021, resumed taking batting practice shortly after the All-Star break, but the 27-year-old catcher doesn't appear to be progressing as quickly as expected in his throwing program. As a defense-first backstop, Rogers wouldn't give the Tigers much value if he were only able to serve as a designated hitter, so he likely won't be a serious candidate for a late-season call-up unless he's able to catch.
