  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Battling renewed adductor tightness

Moreno exited Sunday's game against the Brewers with left adductor tightness, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

As Friedman notes, it's the same injury that Moreno just returned from last week. The extent of his latest setback is uncertain, but this is potentially a big blow to an Arizona team primed for the playoffs. Even if Moreno doesn't need to go on the injured list, the team could bring Adrian Del Castillo back up for catching depth over the final week of the regular season.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Rests for second game of twin bill

Jeffers is out of the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Red Sox.

Jeffers will rest for the second game of the day after he played all eight innings behind the plate in the Twins' 8-1 loss earlier Sunday while going hitless in four at-bats. Christian Vazquez will draw the start at catcher in the nightcap.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Exits Sunday with injury

Moreno was removed from Sunday's game against the Brewers with an apparent injury, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

A ball bounced and hit Moreno in his lower abdomen, though Jackson said the backstop appeared to be favoring his leg more than his abdominal area. Regardless, Moreno had to leave the game, and his status is currently up in the air. The Diamondbacks wrap up their regular season with a six-game homestand next week.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Resting Sunday

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

D'Arnaud and Sean Murphy have been alternating turns behind the plate since the former returned from the paternity list Sept. 12. After d'Arnaud started at catcher and went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in Saturday's 6-2 win, Murphy will enter the lineup Sunday.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Takes seat Sunday

Naylor is not in Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals.

Naylor drew the start in the first two games of this weekend's series, going 2-for-8 with a solo home run and another run scored. Austin Hedges will start behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Back in lineup as DH

Contreras (finger/hip) is in the lineup as the designated hitter for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The 26-year-old is said to be dealing with lingering finger and hip issues, but he will tough it out Sunday with the help of the DH tag. Milwaukee has already secured the NL Central, so Contreras could perhaps see additional down time over the final week of the season. That said, he's been a workhorse and will likely push to play as much as the team will let him in preparation for the playoffs.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Out of Sunday's lineup

Kirk is not in the lineup for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.

Kirk caught the first two games of the series but will get a breather for Sunday's finale. Tyler Heineman is behind the plate as the Blue Jays try to avoid a sweep.

  • Elias Diaz C | SD

Padres' Elias Diaz: Swats first homer with new club

Diaz went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Saturday in a 6-2 victory versus the White Sox.

Diaz gave San Diego some extra cushion in the eighth inning with a two-run shot to left-center field. It was his sixth homer of the season and his first since joining the Padres in late August. In fact, prior to Saturday, Diaz -- who belted a career-high 18 long balls with the Rockies in 2021 -- hadn't gone deep since June 5, a stretch of 41 games.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Triples, drives in two Saturday

Dingler went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple and two RBI in Saturday's 6-4, 10-inning win over the Orioles.

Dingler snapped an 0-for-9 slump that spanned his last three appearances and recorded the second triple of his rookie season. The 25-year-old catcher has mostly struggled in his debut campaign, slashing .143/.175/.286 across 24 games, but he still should figure into Detroit's future plans behind the plate.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Not in lineup for first game

Wong is absent from the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Danny Jansen will do the catching for the Red Sox in the first game of the twin bill. Wong is likely to be back in the lineup for the nightcap.
