  • Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Beginning rehab assignment

Del Castillo (calf) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Aaron Hughes of SI.com reports.

Del Castillo missed the entirety of Cactus League play with a strained left calf, so this is a big step in his recovery to see some game action. Del Castillo appeared in 44 regular-season games with the Diamondbacks last season and slashed .242/.290/.392 with four home runs, 17 RBI, nine runs scored and an 8:47 BB:K across 131 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Idle Tuesday

Alvarez isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Alvarez will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday after going 1-for-3 with a walk in Monday's series opener. Luis Torrens will catch instead for starter Kodai Senga while batting ninth.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Receiving Tuesday off

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Houston, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Narvaez went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts in Monday's series opener and has hits in all three of his starts this season, but he'll head to the bench for Tuesday's contest. Connor Wong will do the catching for Boston righty Brayan Bello.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Absent from lineup

Kelly is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Kelly has been behind the dish for three of the Cubs' first five games this season but will yield catching duties to Miguel Amaya on Tuesday. Amaya is in the nine spot in Chicago's lineup.

  • Brewers' Jeferson Quero: Optioned back to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Quero to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

He's being sent out to make room on the active roster for Luis Matos, who was acquired via trade. Quero logged two plate appearances during his first brief stint in the majors, drawing a walk and grounding out.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Kirk is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Kirk has gone 1-for-12 with two walks and a solo homer through three games and will sit Tuesday for the second time in Toronto's past three contests. Tyler Heineman will take over behind the plate to do the catching for veteran righty Max Scherzer.

  • Ivan Herrera C | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Second start at catcher

Herrera will start at catcher and bat second in Tuesday's contest against the Mets.

It's the second start at catcher this season for Herrera, leaving him eight games shy of gaining eligibility at the position if your league uses a 10-game in-season threshold. Herrera is off to a slow start offensively this season, going 2-for-17 with a double and two RBI.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Out of Reds' lineup

Stephenson is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Pirates.

It's a routine day off for Stephenson, who has now started three of the Reds' first five tilts. Jose Trevino will do the catching and bat eighth for Cincinnati on Tuesday.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Contributes to win

Hedges went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Monday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.

Hedges doubled to lead off the third inning and scored the Guardians' first run, then singled to open the seventh and score the team's second run. This was Hedges' season debut following a hand injury that cropped up toward the end of spring training. He'll operate as the primary backup at catcher to Bo Naylor.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Delivers walk-off single

Raleigh went 1-for-2 with a walk-off RBI single in Monday's 2-1 win against the Yankees.

After striking out in his first at-bat as a pinch hitter, Raleigh came through in the clutch, ripping a one-out single down the line that got past a diving Ben Rice at first base and allowed the winning run to score. While it's far too early to draw big conclusions, the timely hit could help the 29-year-old catcher build momentum during an uneven start to the year after limited action in the World Baseball Classic following his monster 2025 campaign in which he eclipsed 60 homeruns and finished just shy of an AL MVP.
