  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Swipes rare base in win

Kelly went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Pirates.

Kelly has been effective at the plate this season with 13 home runs and an .830 OPS through 83 games, but speed hasn't been a part of his output, as this was his first stolen base of the year. It was actually the veteran catcher's first steal since 2023, and he only has four total stolen bases during his 10-year MLB career. Kelly figures to keep seeing opportunities in the heart of Chicago's lineup, especially with Miguel Amaya (ankle) back on the IL, but he likely won't run too much more often.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Trio of hits in loss

Pages went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 12-8 loss against the Yankees.

Pages' performance was highlighted by a homer in the ninth inning that ultimately went to waste in a high-scoring loss. The catcher has carved out solid playing time this month and has thrived with it, batting .448 with three doubles, three homers and nine RBI across nine games since Aug. 2.

  • Royals' Carter Jensen: Back from minor wrist injury

Jensen (wrist) was back in the lineup for Triple-A Omaha on Saturday and hit a two-run home run.

He suffered a right wrist contusion earlier this week but only missed a couple days. Jensen, 22, is slashing .316/.388/.571 with 12 home runs, eight steals and a 26.5 percent strikeout rate over his last 62 games split across Double-A and Triple-A.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Idle Saturday

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Milwaukee.

Stephenson will get a breather after catching both of the last two games. He'll yield to Jose Trevino behind the dish. Stephenson has a .706 OPS on the year.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: On bench Saturday

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Narvaez will take a seat for Saturday's game after starting three of Boston's last four games. He'll yield to Connor Wong, who'll catch for Brayan Bello for an eighth straight start. Narvaez has just two hits in his last 18 at-bats.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

    Pirates' Henry Davis: Idle Saturday

Davis isn't part of the starting nine for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Davis and Joey Bart have now alternated starts behind the dish for eight straight games, and it'll be Bart's turn to catch after Davis went 1-for-4 on Friday. Davis is slashing .170/.248/.280 in 204 plate appearances this season.

  • Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Swats homer in loss

Higashioka went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays.

Higashioka gave the Rangers an early lead with a three-run homer in the second inning. The blast was his fourth home run over the last 11 games, a span in which he slashed .289/.325/.684 with eight RBI and eight runs scored.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Reaches 100 RBI

Raleigh went 3-for-5 with a walk, two doubles, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 11-9 win over the Mets.

The backstop hadn't settled for a two-bagger since June 27, but Raleigh banged out a couple late doubles after launching his league-leading 46th homer of the season in the third inning off Sean Manaea. With the performance, Raleigh reached 100 RBI for the second straight season as he continues to re-write the record book. The last catcher to record back-to-back 100-RBI campaigns was Mike Piazza, who accomplished the feat in five consecutive seasons from 1996-2000. Raleigh is two homers away from tying Salvador Perez for the most in a season by a catcher in MLB history, and he's only six long balls away from tying Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle for the most in a season by a switch hitter. The Mariners have 39 games left on their schedule.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Drives in three Friday

Dingler went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Friday's 7-0 win over the Twins.

Dingler chipped in as part of a 10-hit Detroit attack that led to the easy win. The catcher has slowed down a bit in August with a .205 batting average and .680 OPS, though he has at least mustered two home runs and seven RBI in 13 games. Overall, Dingler is batting .272 with a .746 OPS, and he remains the team's clear top backstop ahead of Jake Rogers.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Serves as DH on rehab

Moreno (finger) served as the designated hitter for Triple-A Reno on Friday and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

This was the second game of Moreno's rehab assignment after he caught five innings Thursday. The catcher missed nearly two months of action with a fracture of his right pointer finger and is eligible to return from the 60-day injured list anytime after Sunday.
