Sanchez is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.

As usual, the 28-year-old is relegated to the bench with Gerrit Cole, who prefers throwing to backup Kyle Higashioka, on the mound. Sanchez has cooled down recently, going 1-for-23 with no RBI since the start of July.

Gomes was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Gomes exited Friday's game in San Francisco with the oblique injury will now be sidelined until after the All-Star break. It's unclear how long an absence he'll require, but Jakson Reetz was called up Saturday to handle backup catching duties for however long Gomes is out.

Stallings is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Having not played since Wednesday, Stallings figures to be well-rested and ready to catch Saturday's nightcap. Stallings was behind the plate for Max Kranick's perfect, albeit abbreviated start June 27, so he'll likely be in the lineup for the righty's second outing of 2021. Michael Perez is catching and batting seventh for the afternoon game.

Manager Brian Snitker said d'Arnaud (thumb) has progressed to swinging a bat with both hands, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

It's encouraging news for the catcher, whose recovering thumb has limited him to one-handed swings until recently. D'Arnaud remains on track to return from the injured list sometime in August.

Bart was recalled by the Giants on Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Bart will give the Giants an extra catcher for the final two days before the break after Buster Posey (thumb) hit the injured list Thursday. He's swung a hot bat in 35 games for Triple-A Sacramento, homering eight times while slashing .338/.400/.581. He'll head straight into the starting lineup, catching and batting seventh against the Nationals. Logan Webb was optioned in a corresponding move.

McCann is on the bench for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

McCann went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs Friday night, raising his average to .350 in 20 at-bats since the start of July. Tomas Nido is catching the afternoon contest Saturday, with McCann likely gearing up to play Game 2.

Rogers is not starting Saturday's game against the Twins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The 26-year-old went 0-for-2 with a walk Friday, dropping his average to .258 in his last nine games. Rogers has hit two homers and driven in four runs in that span. Eric Haase is starting behind the dish and batting cleanup Saturday.

McGuire is not starting Saturday's game against the Rays.

McGuire's bat has cooled off again, as he's gone 1-for-17 with no walks since the start of July. His offensive drop-off has coincided with Danny Jansen's return from the injured list July 3. McGuire was recently named the starting catcher over the light-hitting Jansen, but the latter is starting Saturday and may reclaim the role if he enjoys some success at the plate.

McCann went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Pirates.

The veteran catcher chipped in his share of the production in a 13-4 rout. McCann is swinging a hot bat with the All-Star break looming, and over his last 10 games he's batting .346 (9-for-26) to push his slash line on the year to .251/.319/.379 with seven homers and 29 RBI through 73 contests.

Barrera went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Giants.

After replacing Yan Gomes (oblique) behind the plate for the bottom of the second inning, Barrera proceeded to be one of the few bright spots for the Nats in a 5-3 loss. With Alex Avila (calf) still on the IL, Barrera could find himself starting for Washington over the final two games before the All-Star break and potentially seeing a significant role after the break as well.
