  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Rangers' Jose Trevino: Delivers big blow early

Trevino went 1-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Saturday's 8-0 win over Kansas City.

Trevino's second-inning double plated the Rangers' first two runs and were all that starter Kyle Gibson would need. The catcher has hits in three of the last four games, but Trevino is batting just .149 (7-for-47) in 16 games since May 30.

  • Padres' Victor Caratini: Not starting Saturday

Caratini isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Caratini started behind the plate in each of the last two games and went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, two walks and two strikeouts. Webster Rivas will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Jake Rogers C | BOS

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Sits for evening game

Rogers will be on the bench for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Astros, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Rogers went 0-for-1 with a sacrifice bunt in the first game of the day. Unsurprisingly, he won't be asked to start behind the plate twice in one day, so Eric Haase will take over for him at catcher.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Not in Saturday's lineup

Vazquez isn't starting Saturday against the Yankees, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Vazquez had multi-hit efforts in each of his last two games, and he went 4-for-6 with an RBI, a stolen base, a walk and a strikeout during that time. He'll get a breather while Connor Wong starts behind the dish and bats ninth.

  • Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Sent down Saturday

Marchan was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Marchan served as the backup catcher recently while Andrew Knapp (concussion) was sidelined, and he went 2-for-5 with two strikeouts. He'll now head back to the minors after Knapp was reinstated from the 7-day injured list.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Not starting Saturday

Narvaez will sit Saturday against the Rockies.

Narvaez's days off typically come against lefties, but he'll sit against righty Antonio Senzatela with the Brewers playing a second straight day game. Manny Pina takes over behind the plate.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Rehab assignment on tap

Kirk (hip) has joined Triple-A Buffalo for a rehab assignment, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Kirk has been playing in games at extended spring training recently, but he'll likely progress to minor-league game action in the near future. The Blue Jays haven't yet indicated when the catcher could return to the major-league roster, but he's eligible to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list as early as July 1.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Retreats to bench

Diaz isn't starting Saturday's game against the Brewers.

Diaz drew starts in each of the last two games and went 1-for-7 with a run, an RBI, a walk and a strikeout. Dom Nunez will start at catcher and bat eighth.

  • Indians' Austin Hedges: Not in Saturday's lineup

Hedges isn't starting Saturday's game against the Twins.

Hedges returned from a concussion Thursday and went 3-for-8 with three RBI, a run and a strikeout across the last two games. Rene Rivera will start behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Tom Murphy C | SF

Mariners' Tom Murphy: Not in Saturday's lineup

Murphy isn't starting Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Murphy went 1-for-4 with a double, a hit by pitch, two runs and two strikeouts Friday, but he continues to alternate starts behind the plate. Luis Torrens will start at catcher and bat seventh.
