Stassi will be on the bench Wednesday against Oakland.

Stassi appears to be at the head of a three-man catching committee at the moment, starting five of the last nine games. Anthony Bemboom gets the nod behind the plate on this occasion.

Trevino is not starting Wednesday against the Yankees.

Trevino has been moving into the starting catching role for the Rangers, getting the nod in four out of five games heading into Wednesday's contest. Jeff Mathis starts behind the plate on this occasion.

Sanchez will sit Wednesday against the Rangers.

Sanchez has an excellent 1.393 OPS with five homers over his last seven games. He'll get a rest Wednesday, with Austin Romine starting behind the plate.

Garver (jaw) remains out of the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Normally, Garver would be leading off with a lefty (Eduardo Rodriguez) due up for the opposition, but he's still dealing with the effects of a foul tip to the mask. He emerged from Monday's game with a sore jaw but is considered day-to-day. Willians Astudillo will catch Wednesday with Max Kepler atop the batting order.

Gallagher remains on the bench Wednesday against Detroit.

Gallagher was activated from the injured list Sunday but has yet to start a game. During that span, Nick Dini has started once while Meibrys Viloria has gotten the call twice, including Wednesday's contest.

Murphy will make his major-league debut either Wednesday or Thursday against the Angels, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The rookie backstop was called up immediately upon roster expansion last Sunday and apparently won't have to wait long to make his highly anticipated big-league debut. Murphy worked around a pair of knee injuries this past minor-league season to slash .308/.386/.625 with 17 extra-base hits (six doubles, one triple, 10 home runs) and 30 RBI across 140 plate appearances with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Barnes will be called up to the Dodgers on Friday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

With Will Smith thriving as a major-league starter and Russell Martin set as his backup, Barnes is likely to take the role of third catcher and occasional utility player. The 29-year-old has struggled mightily with the big club this season, hitting .198 with five homers in 207 at-bats. However, he performed well after being sent down to the minors, slashing .264/.375/.540 with six long balls and 17 RBI in 23 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Contreras went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's victory over the Mariners.

Contreras was activated from the injured list before the game and wasted no time picking up where he left off, launching a 450-foot moonshot to left center field in the second inning. The 27-year-old ended up missing 27 games with a hamstring injury suffered in early August. He remains one of the best hitting catchers in the game, compiling a .279/.369/.537 slash line with 20 homers and 58 RBI in 344 plate appearances this season.

McCann went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Tuesday against the Indians.

McCann took Carlos Carrasco deep in the eighth inning to tie the game at five. He now has 16 home runs for the season, though he's gone through a cold patch by recording just two hits across his last 26 at-bats. While his batting average has sunk from .294 to .274 since Aug. 18, McCann is still producing at a career-best rate at the plate by nearly any measure.

Perez went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI against the White Sox on Tuesday.

Perez's availability was in question for Tuesday after he exited Monday's contest early with a foot contusion. However, he showed no ill effects in his return, smacking a three-run homer in the seventh inning. He now has 22 home runs on the season, nearly tripling his previous career-high.
