  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Drives in four in return

    Perez went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI against the White Sox on Tuesday.

    Perez's availability was in question for Tuesday after he exited Monday's contest early with a foot contusion. However, he showed no ill effects in his return, smacking a three-run homer in the seventh inning. He now has 22 home runs on the season, nearly tripling his previous career-high.

    Sanchez delivered his second two-homer game in the last four contests, bringing his season total to a career-high 34 home runs. The 26-year-old has a .237/.313/.543 slash line with 58 runs scored and 74 RBI in 99 games this season.

  • Angels' Anthony Bemboom: Called up as third catcher

    Bemboom was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

    Bemboom has gotten into 13 games for the Rays and Angels this season, struggling to a .185/.185/.333 slash line. He'll likely serve as the third catcher behind Max Stassi and Kevan Smith down the stretch.

  • Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: Slugs 16th homer

    D'Arnaud went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 loss to the Orioles in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

    Serving as the designated hitter, d'Arnaud provided the Rays with a 2-0 lead with a 427-foot blast to center in the fourth inning off Ty Blach, his third homer in his last six games. The 30-year-old has generated a solid .254/.320/.460 slash line and d'Arnaud has 58 RBI in 291 at-bats this season.

    Dodgers' Will Smith: Bows out of starting lineup

    Smith isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

    Smith is in line for the night off after going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Monday's series opener. Russell Martin will handle the catching duties and bat eighth.

    Narvaez (back) remains out of the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

    Narvaez was sidelined Tuesday due to back spasms and will sit for at least one more game. Tom Murphy starts behind the plate.

  • Marlins' Wilkin Castillo: DFA'd by Miami

    Castillo was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Tuesday.

    Castillo will head to the waivers after being kicked off the 40-man roster. The backstop has put together a .250/.310/.408 slash line with six homers and 24 RBI over 58 games this season at Triple-A New Orleans.

  • Marlins' Tyler Heineman: Promoted to big leagues

    Heineman had his contract selected from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday.

    Heineman played 48 games with New Orleans this season, slashing .341/.397/.622 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI. He'll have a chance to make his major-league debut after spending the last eight years in the minors.
