Martin Maldonado C | SD
Royals' Martin Maldonado: Resting Sunday
Maldonado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Maldonado will sit out the series finale as part of a planned maintenance day. No. 2 catcher Cam Gallagher will slot in behind the dish, working in a battery with Brad Keller.

Kevin Plawecki C | TEX
Indians' Kevin Plawecki: Gets second start of series
Plawecki will start at catcher and bat ninth Sunday against the Mariners, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Plawecki was previously behind the plate in Friday's series opener, going hitless in three at-bats in the Tribe's 2-1 win. Despite picking up his second start in three days, Plawecki still looks to be locked in as the No. 2 catcher behind Roberto Perez, whose defense prowess provides greater value to the Indians than Plawecki's on-base skills.

Roberto Perez C | BOS
Indians' Roberto Perez: Gets another day off
Perez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Perez finds himself on the bench for the second time in three days, but it's still believed that he's the Tribe's preferred option behind the plate. The 30-year-old's defensive acumen and experience working with the Cleveland pitching staff helps keep his spot atop the depth chart secure, but he's offering little assistance to fantasy owners. Entering play Sunday, Perez maintains a .227 average to go with three home runs, seven RBI and four runs across 76 plate appearances.

Yasmani Grandal C | PIT
Brewers' Yasmani Grandal: Resting after marathon victory
Grandal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Grandal went 0-for-7 with a walk and a run while catching all 18 innings of Saturday's 4-3 win, so he's more than deserving of a breather in the series finale. Manny Pina will work in a battery with Zach Davies for Sunday's matinee affair.
-
Taylor Davis C | PIT
Cubs' Taylor Davis: Delivers grand slam
Davis went 1-for-3 with a grand slam in a 6-5 win over the Cardinals on Saturday.
Davis, who was called up Friday from Triple-A Iowa, brought the Cubs back from a 5-1 deficit with his fourth-inning shot off Michael Wacha. The 29-year-old has only received 23 major-league at-bats spread over three seasons and the home run was the first of his career. He is expected to serve as the team's No. 2 catcher during Victor Caratini's absence.
-
Austin Barnes C | NYM
Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Out of Saturday's lineup
Barnes is not in Saturday's lineup against the Padres, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
After slumping for a couple weeks in the middle of April, Barnes is 6-for-20 (.300) with two home runs in his last six games. Russell Martin will start at catcher, hitting sixth.
-
Sean Murphy C | ATL
Athletics' Sean Murphy: Out with torn meniscus
Murphy has a torn left meniscus and will require surgery, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports.
This procedure typically requires a 4-to-6-week recovery period, but for catchers, it can be a little longer. Murphy was on track to make his big-league debut this summer, so this is a big blow for the A's. He is hitting .324/.402/.459 with one home run and a 19:9 K:BB in 87 plate appearances with Triple-A Las Vegas.
-
Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Launches 11th homer
Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a 7-3 loss to the Twins on Saturday.
Serving as the designated hitter, the 26-year-old absolutely crushed his homer to left-center field in the eighth inning to draw the Yankees to within three runs. Sanchez is tied for second in MLB with 11 homers after homering five times in his last six games. He holds a .271/.354/.771 slash line this season.
-
Mitch Garver C | SEA
Twins' Mitch Garver: Bangs out three hits in win
Garver went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and two singles in a 7-3 win over the Yankees on Saturday.
It was a big performance at the top of the order for the backstop, who cranked his sixth home run of the season. He's off to a strong start, sporting a .333/.387/.719 slash line with 10 extra-base hits in just 57 at-bats.
