D'Arnaud has been working out at first base and the corner outfield positions in recent days, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

D'Arnaud's career .242/.304/.404 slash line doesn't exactly make him seem like the type of catcher who warrant at-bats elsewhere in order to keep his bat in the lineup, but he's evidently impressed the Rays. His .259/.323/.481 slash line through his first 18 games with the team certainly isn't hurting his case, and the team elected to keep him on the roster even after Michael Perez returned from his oblique injury.

Narvaez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Narvaez sits for the second straight game and the fourth time in the last six contests. Tom Murphy gets the start behind the plate.

Sanchez went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer as the Yankees beat the Mets 12-5 in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday.

Sanchez completed the scoring with his two-run shot to left field in the eighth inning off Tim Peterson. He also drove in the Yankees' second run with an RBI single in the third. The 26-year-old has now blasted eight homers in his last 17 games and has raised his slash line to .264/.335/635 for the year with 40 RBI in 178 at-bats.

Garver will be on the bench Tuesday against Seattle.

Garver owns a strong .835 OPS over his last nine games, though that qualifies as a cold streak during a season in which he's hit a remarkable .317/.410/.693. Jason Castro gets the start behind the plate.

Diaz isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Braves.

Diaz will head to the bench after drawing four consecutive starts behind the dish. Jacob Stallings is set to handle the catching duties and hit eighth with Diaz out of the lineup.

Knizner was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Knizner went 0-for-7 over two games, so he'll return to the minor leagues still in search of his first big-league hit. Yadier Molina (thumb) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Vazquez is back behind the plate Tuesday against Texas, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Vazquez had only caught one of the last five games, though he'd also appeared twice as a designated hitter. He owns a poor .196/.237/.304 slash line over his last 18 games.

Barnes isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Angels, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Barnes will get his second night off in three days, as the Dodgers are likely taking it easy with the 29-year-old backstop following his return from a groin injury. Russell Martin is set to handle the catching duties and hit seventh in Barnes' absence.

Contreras is not in the lineup Monday against the Rockies.

Contreras will take a seat for Monday's series opener after starting the past two games behind the dish and going 1-for-8 with five strikeouts during those contests. In his stead, Victor Caratini is starting at backstop and hitting sixth.

Gomes is not in the lineup Monday against the White Sox.

Gomes has started three of the past four games behind the dish, going 3-for-10 during those contests. Kurt Suzuki is starting at catcher and hitting eighth in this one.
