  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Set to resume running

Sanchez (groin) is scheduled to run on the field Thursday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Sanchez has been hitting off a tee and doing throwing drills in Tampa, but this will mark his first time running without a zero-gravity treadmill since landing on the DL on July 24. The backstop is set to rejoin the Yankees in New York on Sunday, after which a more concrete timetable for his return should come forth.

  • Luke Maile C | KC

Blue Jays' Luke Maile: Out of lineup Thursday

Maile is not in the starting lineup against Boston on Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Maile will remain on the bench for the second straight day while Russell Martin catches Ryan Borucki. Since the All-Star break, Maile has been receiving a majority of the playing time and is hitting .265/.324/.353 with six RBI and three extra-base hits.

  • Rays' Michael Perez: Not in Thursday's lineup

Perez is out of the lineup against Baltimore on Thursday.

Perez will take a seat following three straight starts behind the plate. In his place, Jesus Sucre will handle the catching duties and bat ninth.

  • Padres' Austin Hedges: Not in Thursday's lineup

Hedges is out of the lineup against the Brewers on Thursday.

Hedges will retreat to the bench after starting the past four contests, including a multi-hit game during Wednesday's loss. In his place, A.J. Ellis will handle the catching duties and bat eighth.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Takes seat Thursday

Garver is out of the starting lineup versus Cleveland on Thursday, LaVelle E. Neal of the Star Tribune reports.

Garver will head to the bench after starting the past two games behind the plate. In his absence, Bobby Wilson will catch Jose Berrios and bat ninth.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Indians' Yan Gomes: On bench Thursday

Gomes is not in the lineup against Minnesota on Thursday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Gomes will head to the bench after starting the past two games. In his place, Roberto Perez will handle the catching duties and bat eighth.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Goes deep in loss

Grandal went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and two strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Athletics.

Grandal launched his 20th homer of the year in the fifth inning, and later swiped his second stolen base of the season (sixth of his career). The backstop was riding an 0-for-11 stretch entering Wednesday, but he continues to lead all National League catchers in home runs (20) and RBI (57) while also posting a .256/.357/.502 slash line -- each of which would be career bests.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

White Sox's Omar Narvaez: Not starting Wednesday

Narvaez is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees.

Narvaez will head to the bench for the third time in four games. Kevan Smith will start behind the plate.

  • Luke Maile C | KC

Blue Jays' Luke Maile: Heads to bench Wednesday

Maile is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Maile has been earning increasing playing time behind the plate, starting six of the Blue Jays' last nine games. He'll sit in favor of Russell Martin on Wednesday.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Resting in series finale

Barnhart is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets.

The Reds will unsurprisingly give Barnhart a breather with the team playing a day game after a night game in the series finale. Curt Casali will check in behind the plate Wednesday, catching for starter Robert Stephenson in the latter's 2018 MLB debut.
