Gomes is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Gomes was behind the plate for the Indians' AL record-tying 20th consecutive win a night earlier, so he'll take a seat and give way to Roberto Perez behind the plate for the afternoon affair. The improved offense of Gomez and Perez has played a major part in the Tribe's lengthy win streak, with Gomes hitting .311 with three home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs over the club's last 20 games.

Higashioka (shoulder) is off the 7-day DL at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

With the Triple-A playoffs in full swing, Higashioka returned to the club last Friday after missing about three weeks with a shoulder strain. The Yankees acquired another catcher in Erik Kratz for their 40-man roster during that span, but Higashioka could still be in line to be called up as added catching depth once the minor-league season comes to an end.

Maile went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in Tuesday's come-from-behind win against the Orioles.

The catcher's ninth-inning infield single off O's closer Zach Britton tied the game, opening the door for a heroic walkoff single by Richard Urena in the next at-bat. Maile has seen a decent amount of playing time since being recalled on Sept. 1 as part of roster expansions, but his efforts (.227) aren't worth much for fantasy purposes.

Barnhart is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Stuart Turner will step in as Barnhart sits after catching three straight games. Barnhart is off to a nice start to September (8-for-21 with eight RBI) and should continue to see the bulk of the work behind the plate for the Reds.

McCann is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Indians.

Despite being in the midst of a modest five-game hitting streak, McCann will get the day off following five consecutive starts behind the dish. Bryan Holaday will draw the start at backstop in his stead.

Contreras is starting behind the dish and hitting cleanup Tuesday against the Mets.

He struck out in a pinch-hit appearance Sunday, but this will mark his first start since Aug. 9, as the Cubs get their star backstop back from a hamstring injury in time to help with the playoff push. The Cubs will be able to give him at least a day or two off per week, as they are currently carrying five catchers on the active roster.

Nido was recalled from Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.

Nido will get his first taste of the majors now that Binghamton's season is over. The 23-year-old backstop slashed .232/.287/.354 with eight homers and 60 RBI in 102 games for the Rumble Ponies prior to his promotion. Nido -- who was featured in the Futures Game earlier in the year -- is known more for his contact skills (14.9 percent strikeout rate) and strong defensive profile, so he isn't expected to make much of a fantasy impact down he stretch. While he'll likely see an occasional start, this is primarily a learning opportunity for the Mets' top catching prospect.

Realmuto went 4-for-6 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Braves.

With Dee Gordon getting a breather, Realmuto hit leadoff for the Marlins and gave the team's slugging outfielders plenty of run-producing opportunities. The 26-year-old catcher is now 10-for-28 (.357) over the last six games, pushing his OPS on the season up to a career-high .780.

Perez went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo homer in Sunday's win over the Orioles.

He went back-to-back with Francisco Lindor in the sixth inning and has now homered twice already in September after hitting just three over the first five months of the campaign. Perez and Yan Gomes have been basically alternating starts over the past couple weeks.

Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a double, two solo home runs and four runs scored in Sunday's 16-7 win over the Rangers.

Sanchez and teammate Aaron Judge went deep twice in this one. Serving a three-game suspension for his role in a brawl against Detroit did little to slow down the scorching slugger, who has mustered multiple hits in two of three games since his return after producing multi-hit efforts in three of his last four contests prior to sitting out. Sanchez now has 30 home runs in 106 games this year after slugging 20 in 53 games last season.
