Sanchez made the Padres' starting lineup as the designated hitter in a road game against the Indians. He went 1-for-4 with the lone run scored in a 1-0 win.

With the benefit of a designated hitter, the Padres were able to keep Sanchez -- who hit two home runs over his previous nine at-bats -- in the lineup. The switch-hitting catcher figures to serve a similar role in the final two games of this interleague matchup against Cleveland, giving him marginal short-term value in deep two-catcher leagues.

Maile underwent an MRI on Tuesday, revealing a torn meniscus in his right knee, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.

Maile landed on the DL prior to Tuesday's afternoon game against the Yankees with inflammation, but the situation became much more significant following the results of the MRI. The team is considering all options, including different treatment plans while surgery remains on the table. It is unclear what the timetable would look like if Maile does indeed need to go the surgical route, but he could miss an extended period of time moving forward.

Contreras is behind the plate and leading off Wednesday against the Rays.

Following a 2-for-4 showing in Tuesday's loss, Contreras will slide up to the leadoff spot while catching John Lackey for the matinee. The 25-year-old has gotten on base twice in each of the past three contests, and with manager Joe Maddon unafraid to tinker around with the construction of the lineup, Contreras is set to try his hand at the top of the order.

Vazquez went 3-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 11-4 win over the Rangers.

The 26-year-old had been hitting just .132 (5-for-38) in his previous 10 games, so Tuesday's performance was a welcome sight. He's worked his way into a timeshare behind the plate with Sandy Leon this year, and while Vazquez doesn't offer much power his .286 batting average on the season is useful in deeper fantasy formats.

Mesoraco is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Mesoraco will take a seat for the second straight game, and for the fifth time over the last nine contests. His .234/.333/.459 triple slash is respectable enough for a backstop, but his sporadic playing time from week to week makes him difficult to trust in a fantasy lineup.

Maldonado is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Twins, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

After delivering his ninth home run of the season in Monday's series opener, Maldonado will rest up following a string of three consecutive starts. Backup backstop Juan Graterol gets the nod behind the plate and will bat ninth.

Realmuto is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Realmuto will finally get a breather after starting five games in a row and 10 of the last 11 overall. A.J. Ellis is set to take over behind the plate for Tuesday's starter, Jose Urena.

Maile was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with right knee inflammation, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

Though the Blue Jays will use the open spot on the active roster for newly acquired backstop Miguel Montero, it doesn't seem that Maile's move to the DL is the result of a phantom injury. According to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca, Maile is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, suggesting a more serious issue than simple inflammation may be at play. Regardless of the severity of his condition, Maile may be bound for Triple-A Buffalo once he's activated unless manager John Gibbons decides to carry three catchers.

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals.

With Tuesday's game kicking off at 11:05 a.m. local time, d'Arnaud won't be asked to step in behind the plate after catching nine innings a night earlier. Rene Rivera will check in at catcher, working as the batterymate for Seth Lugo.

Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.

That's back-to-back three-hit efforts for the catcher, pushing his slash line on the year back up to .295/.352/.452. Realmuto may not reach double-digit steals again, but otherwise the 26-year-old is well on his way to a career season.
