Narvaez is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Angels.

Narvaez will alternate starts behind the plate with Kevan Smith for the sixth straight game, and may continue to do so until one of the two backstops provides some semblance of offense. Narvaez has yet to hit a home run and is batting just .217, but he's shown impressive plate discipline, drawing 14 walks and striking out just 10 times.

Mesoraco (hamstring) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Although his initial removal from Sunday's bout seemed to be precautionary, this marks the second consecutive game Mesoraco will miss due to the ailment. It's unclear if the Reds are just being overly cautious with the catcher or if there's actually a bigger issue at hand, but more information should be disclosed relatively soon. Tucker Barnhart will fill in for him behind the plate once again.

Vazquez is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.

Though he went hitless in his start Tuesday, Vazquez remains a surprising source of offense for a potent Red Sox attack, upholding a .345/.381/.466 line over 63 plate appearances. Unfortunately for Vazquez, Sandy Leon has begun to wake up at the plate and has thrust himself back into the timeshare at catcher. Leon will swap into the lineup Wednesday following back-to-back starts by Vazquez.

Contreras is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds.

Despite collecting a pair of hits in Tuesday's contest, Contreras will head to the bench for his second day off in three games. Miguel Montero will slot in behind the dish in his stead.

Murphy (forearm) threw Tuesday and is close to taking batting practice once again, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

His recovery process is taking a bit longer than initially expected, but there seems to be a return on the horizon for Murphy. No firm timetable for his return has been revealed, although things should clear up as he progresses further.

Gomes is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.

After catching nine innings and recording a pair of hits Tuesday night, Gomes will get a breather in the series finale due to the quick turnaround. Roberto Perez checks in as the Indians' backstop for the day.

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's matinee against the Astros, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

It appears to be a routine day off for Realmuto, his second in the last four games. A.J. Ellis will start behind the backstop in his place.

Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a walk and a three-run home run in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Royals.

His third-inning blast to straightaway center field, which traveled an estimated 428 feet, opened the scoring and gave CC Sabathia all the offense he would need. It's Sanchez's second homer in five games and third of the season, and he's now hitting a massive .353/.476/.559 since coming off the DL.

Grandal is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Austin Barnes will step in behind the dish as Grandal sits following back-to-back starts. With hits in nine straight games, and 16 hits in total so far in May, Grandal has raised his average nearly 90 points (to .291) since the end of April. Expect Grandal to return to the lineup for Wednesday's series finale.

Mesoraco (hamstring) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Reds will play it safe with Mesoraco after he was prematurely lifted from Sunday's contest with a tight hamstring. Even though the 28-year-old doesn't believe the ailment to be anything overly serious, the Reds will hold him out for an extra day given he's played in just 39 games over the past two seasons. Tucker Barnhart will draw the start behind the dish in his stead.
