Sanchez got the start at DH and went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

He didn't hit a homer for just the fourth time in his last 11 games, but Sanchez still banged out his 19th extra-base hit in August (11 home runs, eight doubles). His absurd run will come to an end eventually but expect the Yankees to continue getting his bat into the lineup as long as he keeps crushing the ball.

Thole was designated for assignment following Sunday's 9-6 win over the Twins, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.

The Blue Jays bolstered their catching corps by acquiring Dioner Navarro from the White Sox over the weekend, leaving no room for Thole as the club's third backstop. Thole had been a mainstay on the Blue Jays' roster over the last four years due to his comfort with catching knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, but he rarely made an impact with his bat. He was sitting on a .164/.254/.218 batting line across 128 plate appearances this season prior to being dropped from the 40-man roster. Assuming he goes unclaimed off waivers, Thole could still opt to remain with the organization as a depth catcher at Triple-A Buffalo.T

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Barnes would be recalled from the minors when rosters expand Sept. 1, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

Barnes will serve as the Dodgers' No. 3 catcher behind Yasmani Grandal and Carlos Ruiz while also assuming a utility role around the infield. Everyday at-bats won't be in the offing for Barnes, who has slashed .292/.378/.435 over 377 plate appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City, but given how many injuries the Dodgers have suffered throughout this season, the quality depth he provides won't be taken for granted.

Barnhart (hand) is out of Sunday's lineup against the Diamondbacks, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Barnhart will remain out of the lineup with a sore hand, giving way to Ramon Cabrera behind the dish. Until further notice, consider Barnhart day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus the Angels.

Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Contreras had a good showing at the plate Saturday, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. However, he'll have a maintenance day Sunday as David Ross gets the nod to start behind the dish against Brock Stewart and the Dodgers.

Perez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rangers.

Tribe manager Terry Francona is likely just extending Perez a breather after he was behind the plate for the last four games, highlighted by a 4-for-5, three-RBI showing at the dish in Friday's series opener. Chris Gimenez will make the start Sunday, but Perez will continue serving as the Indians' top catcher until Yan Gomes (shoulder) returns from the DL, likely in early September.

Maldonado is sitting out Sunday against Pittsburgh.

Manny Pina will start behind the dish as Maldonado gets the day off. Maldonado has started four of Milwaukee's last seven games and has gone just 3-for-14 over said outings.

McCann will be in the lineup Sunday against the Angels. He will bat eighth.

Tyler Skaggs is on the mound for the Halos and McCann is better against lefties. His slash line against southpaws is .253/.321/.547. He's worth the roll of the proverbial dice in daily formats.

Rupp is out of Sunday's lineup against the Mets, Ryan Lawrence of the Philly Voice reports.

Rupp will have a routine day off for Sunday's series finale against Robert Gsellman and the Mets. He'll give way to A.J. Ellis behind the plate.

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks in Saturday's win over the Orioles.

The rookie's opposite-field homer bounced off the top of the outfield wall and into the stands to give him an even .400 average. The 23-year-old also flashed some defense by throwing out a runner trying to steal second base. To emphasize both his outstanding performance in August, as well as the lack of available production at his position, Sanchez already ranks near the top-15 at catcher in standard mixed leagues despite having played only one month this year.
