Freddy Fermin C | SD
Royals' Freddy Fermin: Retreating to bench Sunday
Fermin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Fermin had started at catcher in each of the last three games while Salvador Perez served as a designated hitter for the first contest and then sat out the next two due to left hip soreness. Perez is healthy enough to step back in as the Royals' DH on Sunday, but Fermin will get a breather while No. 3 catcher Luke Maile steps in behind the plate. The Royals haven't indicated when Perez might be ready to resume full-time duties at catcher, so Fermin could continue to see elevated playing time in the short term.

Carlos Narvaez C | BOS
Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Set to lose work to Wong
Narvaez will start at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Twins.
Though he's back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale, Narvaez's run as the Red Sox's primary catcher is over with Connor Wong reinstated from the injured list Friday. Wong started behind the dish in the first two games of the series, but he'll pick up some rest in the Sunday afternoon contest. Narvaez batted just .175 with three home runs over 18 games while Wong was sidelined.

Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Resting Sunday
Wong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.
After starting behind the dish in the first two games of the series following his activation from the 10-day injured list Friday, Wong will get a breather as the Red Sox wrap up their three-game set with the Twins. Carlos Narvaez will replace Wong behind the plate.

Austin Wells C | NYY
Yankees' Austin Wells: Cranks sixth long ball
Wells went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Rays.
Wells gave New York a 2-1 lead with his fifth-inning blast, but Tampa Bay scored twice in the eighth to pull out the victory. The homer extended the backstop's on-base streak to eight games, a stretch during which he's batting .265 with two long balls, four doubles and eight RBI. On the season, Wells is hitting just .208, but he's tied for fourth among catchers with 18 RBI and is tied for fifth with six home runs.

J.T. Realmuto C | PHI
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Belts three-run homer
Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Realmuto extended the Phillies' lead to six runs in the third inning, when he took Brandon Pfaadt deep to left-center field for a three-run home run. It was Realmuto's third homer of the season (two of which have come over his last three starts), and the veteran catcher has seven multi-hit games in 2025. He has gone 8-for-27 (.296) with five runs scored and four RBI over his last seven games.

Logan O'Hoppe C | LAA
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Idle Saturday
O'Hoppe is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Tigers on Saturday, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
O'Hoppe will get a breather Saturday while Travis d'Arnaud starts behind home plate and bats fifth. O'Hoppe has gone 6-for-14 with two home runs and three RBI over his last four games and has what would be a career-best .883 OPS to start the season.
-
Salvador Perez C | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Not starting Saturday
Perez (hip) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.
Perez will miss a second consecutive game Saturday after leaving Thursday's contest due to left hip soreness. Freddy Fermin will get the nod at catcher and bat eighth, and Cavan Biggio will work as Kansas City's designated hitter while batting seventh.
-
Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Stepping out of lineup Saturday
Ruiz is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's matchup versus Cincinnati.
Ruiz will get a rest to begin Saturday after starting each of Washington's past five contests and going 5-for-19 with no extra-base hits over that stretch. Riley Adams is starting behind the plate and batting eighth for the Nats on Saturday.

Luis Campusano C | SD
Padres' Luis Campusano: Summoned to majors
The Padres recalled Campusano from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.
Campusano has performed well with El Paso this season, slashing .322/.445/.598 with six home runs, 17 RBI and 21 runs over 110 plate appearances. He struggled in the majors last year, posting a .642 OPS over 299 plate appearances, but was much better in 2023, when he slashed .319/.356/.491 with seven long balls in 49 games. Campusano may not get much playing time behind the plate with the Padres given his defensive liabilities and since the team already has two other catchers -- veterans Elias Diaz and Martin Maldonado -- but he may also get an occasional turn at DH. To make room for Campusano on the roster, San Diego optioned Connor Joe to El Paso.

Bo Naylor C | CLE
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Won't start Saturday
Naylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.
Naylor will get a chance to catch his breath Saturday after slugging three home runs over his last four games. Austin Hedges will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth.
