  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Ties big-league record Sunday

Raleigh went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and three total runs scored in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Angels.

Raleigh's first-inning homer was his 54th of the season, tying Mickey Mantle's major-league record for the most homers in a season by a switch hitter. Raleigh has clubbed four homers and supplied eight RBI over 13 games in September, batting .280 (14-for-50) in that span. For the season, the catcher is at a .244/.359/.577 slash line with 115 RBI, 101 runs scored, 21 doubles and 14 stolen bases over 147 contests.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Idle against lefty

Wells is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

With ace southpaw Garrett Crochet on the bump for Boston, Wells will head to the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Trent Grisham and Ryan McMahon. Ben Rice will get the starting nod at catcher while Wells rests.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Drives in five Sunday

Perez went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and five total RBI in Sunday's 10-3 win over the Phillies.

Perez extended Kansas City's lead to 6-2 with a homer off Aaron Nola in the sixth inning, his 28th this year, before adding two more RBI with a base hit in the seventh. Perez now has three homers and eight RBI in his last two games after going just 2-for-23 with no RBI in his previous six contests. Overall, the 35-year-old veteran is slashing .237/.278/.450 with 89 RBI and 51 runs scored across 589 plate appearances this season.

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Receiving breather Sunday

Goodman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Goodman will retreat to the bench after he started in each of the Rockies' last six games, with five coming behind the plate. Braxton Fulford will handle catching duties for Colorado in the series finale.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Dodgers' Ben Rortvedt: Takes over as primary catcher

Rortvedt will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Giants.

Rortvedt will pick up his fourth consecutive start and looks poised to serve as the Dodgers' primary backstop until Los Angeles gets one of Will Smith (hand) or Dalton Rushing (shin) back from the injured list. Since being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sept. 4, Rortvedt has gone 7-for-22 (.318 average) with two doubles, one walk, five runs and two RBI in eight games.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Taking seat Sunday

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Stephenson will be given the afternoon off after he started behind the plate in each of the Reds' last four games while going 3-for-15 with two home runs, a walk, five RBI and three runs. Jose Trevino will handle catching duties Sunday.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Resting up Sunday

Kelly is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Kelly will get some rest for the series finale after he started at catcher in each of the team's last four contests. Reese McGuire will form a battery with starting pitcher Matthew Boyd on Sunday.

  • Rays' Hunter Feduccia: Exiting starting nine Sunday

Feduccia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

He'll give way to Nick Fortes behind the plate for the matinee contest after he started at catcher in Saturday's 5-4 win. Since being acquired from the Dodgers on July 30 and being called up to the majors a few days later, Feduccia has slashed .156/.273/.203 over 28 games with Tampa Bay.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Resting for series finale

Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Moreno will rest for Sunday's matinee after he had started behind the plate in each of Arizona's last three contests. James McCann will handle catching duties in the series finale in Minnesota.

  • Jimmy Crooks C | STL

Cardinals' Jimmy Crooks: Sitting again Sunday

Crooks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

The left-handed-hitting Crooks was expected to get a look as the Cardinals' top backstop over the final few weeks of the season, but he's now sat in four of St. Louis' last five matchups, with three of his absences coming against right-handed pitching. Entering Sunday, the 72-77 Cardinals sit just four games behind the pace for the final wild-card spot in the National League, which may be a factor in the team's decision to lean more heavily of late on Pedro Pages, who lacks Crooks' upside as a hitter but is a more trusted defender behind the dish.
