Nick Fortes C | TB
Marlins' Nick Fortes: Sitting out Wednesday
Fortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
The Marlins and Giants have an afternoon game following a Tuesday night tilt, so Fortes will get a breather. Jhonny Pereda will make his first major-league start, handling the catching duties while Trevor Rogers is on the bump. Fortes has mustered a .305 OPS through 35 plate appearances this season but is still expected to see the bulk of the starts behind the plate while Christian Bethancourt (illness) is on the injured list.

Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Slugs second homer
Wong went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 10-7 extra-innings loss to the Guardians.
The 27-year-old has ceded more work than expected to Reese McGuire early in the season, but the arrangement seems to be working for both backstops. Through 10 games, Wong is batting a blistering .355 (11-for-31) with a double, two homers, three runs and seven RBI, and his share of the playing time could be creeping back up as he's started three of the last five games, with Tuesday's start coming against right-hander Tanner Bibee.

Kyle McCann C | COL
Athletics' Kyle McCann: Swats first career home run
McCann went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.
McCann plated the only two runs of the evening for the Athletics. He gave them an early lead with an RBI single in the second and then put them back in front in the fifth with a blast to right against Lance Lynn. McCann has appeared in just five games so far this season as the team's backup catcher and all three of his hits have come in his last six at-bats.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Scratched Tuesday
Moreno was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup ahead of Tuesday's game versus the Cubs due to a right thumb contusion, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Moreno bruised his thumb on a wild pitch during Monday's contest, and the damage is apparently severe enough to keep him from playing Tuesday. While he recovers, Tucker Barnhart will enter to play catcher and bat ninth.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Getting breather Tuesday
Adams is out of the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Dodgers, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Adams will take a seat in the second installment of the team's three-game series with Los Angeles, giving way to Drew Millas behind the plate. Adams saw his four-game hitting streak get snapped in Monday's 6-4 win over the Dodgers, but he is still batting .300 with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored over 30 at-bats in eight games this season. He'll continue to handle the lion's share of work at catcher while Keibert Ruiz (illness) is unavailable.

Drew Millas C | WAS
Nationals' Drew Millas: Starting behind plate Tuesday
Millas is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Tuesday's matchup with the Dodgers, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Millas was called up Monday to help Riley Adams handle the backstop duties while Keibert Ruiz (illness) is on the 10-day injured list. Millas has made one start with Washington this season, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base in the team's 7-1 loss to the Giants on April 10.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Resting Tuesday
Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday versus the Nationals, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
After going 1-for-3 with two RBI in Monday's series opener, Smith will get a breather Tuesday despite southpaw Patrick Corbin starting on the mound for Washington. Austin Barnes will start behind the plate instead and bat ninth.
-
Salvador Perez C | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Out of Tuesday's lineup
Perez (groin) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the White Sox.
Perez will miss a second straight start after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 left groin strain. He intends to attempt to play through the injury, but with an afternoon game Wednesday representing the Royals' final game of their road trip, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Perez at least held out until Friday following Thursday's off day. Freddy Fermin will catch Tuesday.

Yasmani Grandal C | PIT
Pirates' Yasmani Grandal: Cleared for rehab assignment
Grandal (foot) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Grandal has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot since early March but is finally ready to test things out in a game setting. Henry Davis has struggled in the early going, so the Pirates seem likely to stick with their original plan of splitting catching duties between Davis and Grandal once the latter is ready.
