    Kelly started at designated hitter and went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 win over the Angels.

    Kelly, who entered the game hitless in his previous 14 at-bats, snapped that run with a second-inning single. He then launched his second home run as a member of the Rangers in the fourth inning, extending the team's early lead to 4-0. Since being acquired from the Tigers at the trade deadline, Kelly has stolen at-bats from starter Jonah Heim, who has a .543 OPS since the beginning of August.

    Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Goes yard Friday

    Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-0 win over the Athletics.

    Raleigh has been consistent lately, going 12-for-40 (.300) over his last nine games. The catcher leads all major-league backstops with 32 homers this year, four ahead of the Athletics' Shea Langeliers. Raleigh has added a .218/.312/.426 slash line, 97 RBI, 70 runs scored and six stolen bases over 151 contests. While he's unlikely to hit for average over long spans, Raleigh is among the steadiest sources of power at the catcher position.

    Braves' Sean Murphy: Pops 10th homer

    Murphy went 1-for-3 with two-run homer in Friday's 3-0 victory over Kansas City.

    The Atlanta backstop opened the game's scoring with a 372-foot, two-run shot off Brady Singer in the fourth inning, marking just his fourth September hit in 43 plate appearances. This is the fourth time Murphy has reached double-digit homers in his six-year career. Overall, the 29-year-old is slashing .197/.284/.360 with 18 runs scored and 25 RBI in 257 plate appearances across 70 games.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Exits early Friday

    Alvarez was removed from Friday's game against the Brewers with back spasms, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

    Alvarez was grabbing at his back immediately after sliding into third base during the seventh inning and stayed on the ground for some time before being helped into the dugout by the Mets' trainers. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but Luis Torrens would be the next man up behind the dish if Alvarez needs to miss some time.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Not starting Friday

    O'Hoppe isn't in the Angels' lineup for Friday's game against Texas, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

    O'Hoppe will get a day to rest Friday after going 2-for-11 with two walks and three strikeouts during the Angels' last series against the White Sox. Matt Thaiss will catch instead for Reid Detmers and bat fifth.

    Langeliers is absent from Friday's lineup against Seattle.

    Since Sept. 1, Langeliers has slashed .227/.286/.453 with five home runs and 13 RBI across 84 plate appearances. Kyle McCann will start behind home plate and bat eighth.

    Smith is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

    Smith has gone 3-for-13 with one home run and two RBI over his last four games. He'll get some rest Friday, with Austin Barnes serving behind home plate and batting ninth.

    After making four straight starts behind the dish, Rortvedt will yield to Logan Driscoll on Friday for the second time in three games. Rortvedt hasn't logged multiple hits in a game since Aug. 8.
