  • Brewers' William Contreras: Smashes clutch two-run homer

    Contreras went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to Cincinnati.

The Brewers were kept off the board until the ninth inning, when Contreras took the first pitch he saw from Emilio Pagan deep to left field to give Milwaukee the lead. Contreras is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak -- including five multi-hit games -- and over that span he has gone 14-for-32 (.438) with one steal, four home runs and 14 RBI. He has been red-hot at the plate since the All-Star break with a .956 OPS across 125 plate appearances.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Reds' Jose Trevino: Comes up clutch with two RBI

Trevino went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Brewers.

Trevino brought home the first run of the game with a sac fly to right field in the seventh, and he came up clutch in the ninth with an RBI single to send the game to extra innings. He has logged a hit in four of his last six starts and has gone 6-for-23 (.261) with three runs and four RBI over that span. Trevino has seen a recent uptick in starts behind home plate with Tyler Stephenson idle in each of the Reds' last two games.

  • Orioles' Maverick Handley: Activated and optioned

The Orioles activated Handley (wrist) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

The 27-year-old will stick around with Norfolk after he recently wrapped up a five-game rehab assignment with the affiliate. Initially placed on the 7-day injured list June 23 due to a concussion, Handley was later shifted to the 10-day IL on July 23 due to a sprained right wrist. Though Handley is healthy again, the Orioles didn't have a spot available for him on the active roster with three other catchers already on hand (Adley Rutschman, Samuel Basallo and Alex Jackson).

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Stepping out of lineup

Goodman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Goodman will get a breather after he started at catcher in each of the first three games of the series while going 3-for-10 with a solo home run, a double, two walks and an additional run. Braxton Fulford will handle catching duties for the Rockies in the series finale.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Diamondbacks' James McCann: On bench Sunday

McCann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

McCann will head to the bench for the second time in the series while Jose Herrera receives a turn behind the plate. Arizona continues to lean on a three-man committee at catcher that also includes Adrian Del Castillo, who has typically been serving as Arizona's designated hitter but has made three starts as a backstop.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Sitting for second straight game

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Davis will take a seat for a second straight game while Joey Bart picks up another start behind the plate. Since the All-Star break, Davis is slashing just .098/.220/.157 with a 30 percent strikeout rate, and his ongoing struggles may be starting to cost him playing time.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Getting rest Sunday

Pages is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Pages will receive a breather after starting behind the plate in each of the last three contests. Yohel Pozo will serve as the Cardinals' starting catcher Sunday.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Resting up Sunday

Dingler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Dingler will retreat to the bench after three straight starts. Jake Rogers will handle catching duties for Detroit on Sunday.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Sitting out second straight game

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Stephenson will take a seat for the second day in a row while the Reds go with Jose Trevino behind the plate. Since the start of August, Stephenson has gone just 3-for-27 at the plate, dropping his batting average to .226 for the season.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Not in Sunday's lineup

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Baldwin has an .803 OPS with two homers and 12 RBI through 12 games in August, but he'll sit against Cleveland lefty Logan Allen on Sunday. Sean Murphy will do the catching for Atlanta righty Erick Fedde while batting seventh.
