Jonathan Aranda 1B | TB
Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Goes yard in loss
Aranda went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in Saturday's 7-4 extra-innings loss to the Royals.
Aranda got the Rays on the board when he took Brady Singer deep in the fourth inning. The homer was Aranda's first of the season, and this was his second multi-hit effort over 11 contests since he recovered from a broken finger suffered just before Opening Day. He's batting .242 with a .718 OPS, two RBI and six runs scored over 37 plate appearances. Aranda figures to continue splitting time between first base and designated hitter in a strong-side platoon role.

Nelson Velazquez RF | KC
Royals' Nelson Velazquez: Homer, double in win
Velazquez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI double and two total runs scored in Saturday's 7-4 extra-innings win over the Rays.
Velazquez has gone 12-for-39 (.308) with three homers and eight RBI over his last 11 games. The outfielder opened the scoring with a second-inning blast off Aaron Civale and added the go-ahead RBI in the 11th. Velazquez's power has been slow to show in 2024, but he looks to be going in the right direction for now. Overall, he's at .232/.301/.394 slash line with five homers, 16 RBI, 22 runs scored and one stolen base through 156 plate appearances.

Kevin Smith DH | NYY
Yankees' Kevin Smith: Selected from Triple-A
The Yankees selected Smith's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
Smith spent time with the Yankees for a short stint in mid-April, though he never registered a plate appearance while in New York. He has slashed .204/.270/.286 across 111 plate appearances in the minors this season, and his time with the Yankees will likely be short-lived again due to DJ LeMahieu (foot) trending toward a return during the upcoming series against the Angels.

Mitch Garver C | SEA
Mariners' Mitch Garver: Taking seat Saturday
Garver is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
Garver will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the series opener Friday. The lefty-hitting Dominic Canzone will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth against Nationals right-hander Trevor Williams, while Dylan Moore draws the start in left field.

Wyatt Langford OF | TEX
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Begins rehab as DH
Langford (hamstring) served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored for Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Langford kicked off a rehab assignment as the DH for the Express and batted leadoff to ensure the maximum number of plate appearances. The Rangers will probably want to see him play the field before activating him. Round Rock continues its series with games Saturday and Sunday, which could be enough to have Langford ready for Tuesday's series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Clubs another homer
Stanton went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 8-0 win over the Padres.
Stanton hit the last of the Yankees' three third-inning homers off Yu Darvish. Over the last 15 games, Stanton has gone deep seven times while adding 11 RBI and eight runs scored. He's more than doubled his homer total for the year in that span -- the designated hitter is now at 13 long balls in 2024. He's added a .246/.295/.520 slash line with 29 RBI, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and no stolen bases over 183 plate appearances.

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Beginning rehab assignment Friday
Langford (hamstring) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Langford landed on the 10-day injured list May 6 due to a strained right hamstring he sustained against the Royals on May 4. The 22-year-old may need only a couple of rehab outings over the weekend before rejoining the big club. Prior to his injury, Langford was slashing .224/.295/.293 with one home run and 11 RBI over 129 plate appearances.

Wyatt Langford OF | TEX
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: On cusp of rehab assignment
Langford (hamstring) is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment as soon as Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The 22-year-old has been sidelined nearly three weeks by a strained hamstring but is in the latter stages of his rehab program. Assuming Langford is able to get in a couple games this weekend, he could rejoin the Rangers for an upcoming two-game series versus the Diamondbacks, which begins Tuesday.

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: To miss at least one month
White Sox GM Chris Getz said Thursday that Jimenez (hamstring) is expected to miss around a month, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Jimenez was placed on the injured list Wednesday with a hamstring but no exact timeline for his return was disclosed. After missing two weeks to start April with a similar issue, Jimenez will face a longer absence this time around.
