Alvarez (oblique) will not be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game versus the Rangers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said Monday that it's possible Alvarez would return to action Tuesday or Wednesday, but we can now cross the first day off that list. The slugger has been on the shelf early June due to a right oblique strain. Houston is idle Thursday, leaving Alvarez with potentially four games to play in this week if he returns Wednesday.

Manager Dusty Baker didn't shed much light on the situation when asked Monday, making it difficult to discern whether Alvarez wasn't activated for the series opener as a matter of precaution or because his oblique is acting up again. After Monday, the Astros will play just five more games this week, so fantasy managers in weekly leagues who were planning on including Alvarez in active lineups may be best off keeping him on the bench or in a reserve spot while his status is uncertain.

Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in Sunday's 7-5 win over Pittsburgh.

After Bryan Reynolds went deep in the first inning to give the Pirates an early lead, Ohtani responded with a solo shot in the bottom of the frame to tie things up. The long ball was the 36th of the campaign for the two-way star, moving him four homers ahead of Matt Olson for the major-league lead. Ohtani has been on a torrid power surge over his past 39 games, slugging 21 home runs and driving in 36 runs while slashing .348/.472/.894 over that span.

Ford went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Ford started at designated hitter and took Alek Manoah deep in the second inning for his second homer in the last four games. The journeyman slugger has cooled off in terms of average over his first 10 post-All-Star-break games -- he's hitting just .222 and has an accompanying .300 on-base percentage over that span -- but he's also posted an impressive .593 slugging percentage thanks to lacing four of his six hits for extra bases in the sample.

Buxton was placed on the paternity leave list Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Buxton will likely miss the entirety of the Twins' series against the Mariners but should rejoin the club this weekend in Kansas City. Trevor Larnach has been recalled to take Buxton's spot on the roster and is an option to see starts in Buxton's vacated designated hitter spot.

Belt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Mariners.

The veteran slugger turned on a Bryan Woo fastball in the sixth inning and got it just over the fence in right field for his eighth homer of the season. Belt had a tough start to his Toronto tenure, but he's now gone yard in back-to-back games and is batting an encouraging .292 (7-for-24) in seven games since the All-Star break.

The Twins are expected to place Buxton on the paternity list prior to Monday's game against the Mariners, Ted Schwerzler of TwinsDaily.com reports.

The team has yet to confirm any transaction related to Buxton, but outfielder Trevor Larnach was pulled early Sunday in Triple-A St. Paul's 3-1 loss to Omaha for non-injury-related reasons and looks poised to get called up as a replacement for the Twins' top designated hitter. Assuming Buxton spends the maximum three days on the paternity list, he'll miss the entirety of the team's home series versus Seattle before rejoining the big club ahead of its three-game set in Kansas City this weekend.

Miller started at designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Dodgers.

Miller made his first start since he was activated from the injured list in late June. The infielder/outfielder has just six plate appearances during that stretch. With both Corey Seager (thumb, IL) and Adolis Garcia (hand) unavailable, Miller could see an uptick in opportunities.

Jimenez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Twins.

Jimenez took Bailey Ober deep to center in the second inning to get the White Sox on the board. It was his third home run in July and the third time over the last four games he's notched multiple hits. Despite missing some time due to injury, the 26-year-old is enjoying a productive month, slashing .333/.368/.519 with eight RBI, eight runs and a 3:7 BB:K in 15 games.
