Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Launches long ball in loss
Stanton went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
The Yankees fell behind big early before Stanton put them on the board with a solo shot in the sixth inning. The long ball was his fifth in his past eight games, and he's knocked in 10 runs over that span. However, Stanton hasn't done much aside from the homers recently, as he has only one other hit (a double) and is batting.194 (6-for-31) over those eight games.

Justin Turner 1B | CHC
Red Sox's Justin Turner: Homers to extend streak
Turner went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Athletics.
Turner gave the Red Sox an early lead with a two-run homer off Ken Waldichuk in the first inning. The home run extended Turner's hit streak to 15 games -- he's gone 22-for-57 (.386) with four homers and a 1.099 OPS in that span. The 38-year-old Turner has had an impressive debut season with Boston. He's now slashing .289/.358/.478 with 15 homers, 61 RBI and 60 runs scored through 403 plate appearances.

Byron Buxton DH | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Out of lineup again Wednesday
Buxton remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Seattle.
It's the second day off in a row for Buxton, who is in the middle of an 0-for-21 stretch with 13 strikeouts. What's uncertain is whether the mental break he's receiving will extend beyond two games. Matt Wallner is again handling designated hitter duties for Minnesota.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TB
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Available to pinch hit
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Jimenez (groin) is available to pinch hit Wednesday versus the Mets, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Grifol said the same thing prior to Tuesday's game, but it sounds like that was a bit of gamesmanship on the skipper's part and Jimenez wasn't truly available. "Today he is available," Grifol said Wednesday. "Yesterday it was questionable whether he was available or not. I would have used him if he was available. He is available today. To pinch hit." It seems as if Jimenez could be ready to return to the lineup as soon as Thursday.

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Sits Wednesday due to groin injury
Jimenez (groin) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
The White Sox made Jimenez available to pinch hit in Tuesday's series opener after he left the team's previous game Sunday against Atlanta due to left groin tightness, but he ultimately went unused in the 11-10 loss to the Mets. Jimenez will remain on the bench again Wednesday, and manager Pedro Grifol previously estimated that the slugger would miss around 4-to-5 days in total. With that in mind, Jimenez may not be a good bet to make it back in the lineup until this weekend's series in Minnesota.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: On bench Wednesday
Rookier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Even though he was recently honored as the Athletics' only All-Star, Rooker looks to be a prime candidate to lose out on at-bats once Oakland gets the likes of Esteury Ruiz (shoulder) and Ramon Laureano (hand) back from the injured list. Rooker is still struggling to hold down an everyday role even while Ruiz and Laureano have been on the shelf, as the recent promotion of Tyler Soderstrom from Triple-A Las Vegas has left fewer opportunities available at designated hitter. Rooker had picked up starts in the corner outfield in the first two games of the series with Boston, but after striking out in six of his eight plate appearances between those contests, he'll cede his spot in the lineup to Cody Thomas in the finale.

Mike Ford DH | MIN
Mariners' Mike Ford: Snaps out of slump Tuesday
Ford went 2-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Twins on Tuesday.
Ford broke out of a funk with his first multi-hit effort of the second half, snapping an 0-for-10 slump that had encompassed his previous three games. The journeyman has locked in regular playing time against right-handed pitching with his best all-around big-league stint to date, as he's sporting a career-high .271 average and .934 OPS partly by averaging one extra-base hit every 7.6 plate appearances.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Beginning assignment Wednesday
Alvarez (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Alvarez was originally scheduled to begin a rehab assignment in Triple-A on Friday, but it had to be pushed back after he came down with an illness. Now that he's feeling better, he'll return to game action for the first time since landing on the injured list June 9 with a strained right oblique. There's been no word on how long Alvarez might spend on assignment, but the Astros will likely be eager to activate one of their top hitters relatively quickly.

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Available off bench
Jimenez (groin) is available to pinch hit Tuesday against the Mets, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Sunday that Jimenez was expected to miss up to five days due to groin soreness, but Jimenez is apparently feeling well enough to come off the bench Tuesday. Grifol added that Jimenez could be back in the lineup as the designated hitter Wednesday.
