Stanton is not in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Phillies, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Stanton will get a day off after he started each of New York's first five games of the campaign, going 4-for-20 with two homers, four RBI and three runs scored over those contests. The 33-year-old has been making sound contact at the plate this season, producing an average exit velocity of 95.0 mph, ranking him third in the majors behind Aaron Judge and Yordan Alvarez. In his place Wednesday, Gleyber Torres will take over at designated hitter while Josh Donaldson starts at third base after some shuffling and bats fifth versus Philadelphia.

Reyes went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

The Royals' offense has been poor to begin 2023, and Reyes hasn't been immune from those struggles. His second-inning solo shot was his first hit of the season, and one of just four in Tuesday's game for the home team. The 27-year-old slugged 44 homers over the last two seasons, so he should provide some pop if he can work out of his 1-for-10 slump to start the campaign.

Belt isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

After starting the season just 1-for-11 at the plate through three games, Belt will take a seat Friday for the second time in three days. George Springer will take over as Toronto's designated hitter, opening up right field for Whit Merrifield and allowing Santiago Espinal to get reps at second base, batting eighth.

Buxton is not in the Twins' lineup for Tuesday's game in Miami.

It looks to be a routine day off for Buxton, who had started each of the Twins' first four games this season in the designated hitter spot. Solano will be the DH on Tuesday, while Michael Taylor will again handle center field.

Ohtani went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Monday in a 7-3 win over the Mariners.

Ohtani broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning with a 431-foot, two-run shot to center field. It was his second homer in as many days and gave him at least one hit in each of the four games in which he has played this season. Ohtani is slashing .294/.333/.647 with five RBI and three runs through 18 plate appearances.

The Astros outrighted Madris to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday.

He'll remain in the organization after none of MLB's other 29 teams put in a waiver claim for the 27-year-old outfielder after he was designated for assignment prior to Opening Day. Madris appeared in 39 games at the big-league level as a rookie with the Pirates in 2022, slashing .177/.244/.265 with a home run and two steals in 123 plate appearances.

Alvarez went 1-for-6 with a home run and four RBI in Monday's loss to the Tigers.

Alvarez ripped a three-run shot in the fifth inning and later added an RBI groundout in the 11th. His home run was a 435-foot, 110 mph rocket to tie the game at 4-4. The lefty slugger is 6-for-17 to start the year with three extra-base hits and 11 RBI.

Stanton went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 6-0 win against San Francisco.

Stanton's two-run shot to center in the third inning traveled an estimated 485 feet, making it the second-farthest homer of his career, per Marly Rivera of ESPN.com. It was also the slugger's second homer in as many days. Stanton has one hit in each of his three games so far this season.

Buxton is starting at designated hitter and batting third for the Twins in Monday's matchup in Miami.

Manager Rocco Baldelli noted before the season that he planned for Buxton to spend most of his time at DH in the early going, and so far he's slotted in there all four games while Michael Taylor plays center field. Baldelli's lineups have been surprisingly static, with the only change to this point coming Sunday, when Ryan Jeffers gave Christian Vazquez a day off at catcher.

Reyes is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Reyes served as the Royals' designated hitter in the team's first two games of the season, but after going 0-for-6 with two walks against five strikeouts between those contests, he now finds himself on the bench for the second straight game. The Royals haven't settled on a permanent fixture at DH, but manager Matt Quatraro looks as though he may rotate a number of players at that spot in the lineup, including Reyes. Until Reyes can clearly take control of an everyday role, he probably won't profile as a strong option in weekly lineups for managers who are seeking power production.
