Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in the loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

It's been a tough stretch for "Miggy" and the Tigers lately. He is hitting .304 this month, but that was his first homer in the last 14 games. Since hitting 44 homers in 2013, Cabrera has seen his home run totals drop to 25 in 2014 and 18 in his injury abbreviated 2015 season. He has just five in 135 at-bats this year. Meanwhile, Detroit has lost 11 of its last 12 games.

Buxton was removed from his game Saturday with Triple-A Rochester due to a minor back issue, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.

It appears the Twins were just acting cautiously by pulling Buxton from the game, so it's not believed that the injury will dramatically delay his quest to return to the big leagues. He was hitting well with Rochester entering play Saturday, slashing .313/.368/.513 with three homers and two steals across 80 at-bats in the minors.

Colon is in the starting lineup and batting eighth for Saturday's tilt with the Braves, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Colon will replace Omar Infante at second base for the second game of a series with the Braves. He has collected a hit in each of the past six games he has started, going 8-for-21 during that time.

Brantley (shoulder inflammation) was placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday, WTAM 1100's Nick Camino reports.

The move can be backdated to May 10, as Brantley has missed the last three games with the shoulder ailment. This is obviously troubling, as Brantley had labrum surgery on his right shoulder in November and returned only to play 11 games before being sidelined again with shoulder trouble. The team has not released a timetable for Brantley's return to action. Michael Martinez was called up from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Martinez, 33, offers little fantasy upside, and Jose Ramirez will likely see the bulk of the action in left field while Brantley is out.

Canha is dealing with both a lower back strain and a left hip impingement, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. He will seek a second opinion, but the hip injury could require surgery.

According to CSN California, Canha's hip issue is not related to his labrum, but it is still significant enough to where surgery is in the realm of possibility. If Canha ultimately undergoes hip surgery, his season would be over, which would leave the already embattled A's even thinner.

Goins is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.

Goins and Darwin Barwin continue to platoon at the second base position, with Barney drawing the starts against lefties. Southpaw Martin Perez is starting for Texas on Friday. There has been nothing to suggest Goins' role against righties is in danger in the short term, but he is struggling mightily (.438) and could be out of a job once Devon Travis (shoulder) is back up to full speed.

Brantley (shoulder) will be reexamined Friday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

He is out of the lineup again Friday, marking his third straight absence, and the exam will determine whether additional rest is needed or if Brantley can resume hitting. Manager Terry Francona said Friday that talk of a possible DL stint for Brantley is "premature." Brantley has gone 9-for-39 (.231 average) with two extra-base hits since his return late last month.

Brantley (shoulder) remains out of the lineup Friday against the Twins.

The Indians were hoping that Brantley could return to the starting lineup after three days of rest, but it appears that his shoulder is still bothering him a bit. With a fourth day off, though, he could return for Saturday's matchup with Minnesota. Jose Ramirez will get the starting nod in left field in his stead.

Martinez hit a solo homer and struck out three times against the Nationals' Max Scherzer in Wednesday's loss.

After 2014's breakout was followed by 2015's power explosion, Martinez flew off draft boards this spring, and early indications confirmed that valuation -- on April 19, he was hitting .370/.444/.565, but then he hit the skids in a big way. Over the 19 games between then and Wednesday, Martinez went just 11-for-76 (.145) with two homers. His BABIP is still way too low at .264 and his HR/FB is depressed as well, so Martinez should bounce back promptly. It's also hard to blame him for all those whiffs Wednesday, considering that the Tigers went down on strikes 20 times against Max Scherzer.

Reed (hamstring) was placed on the 7-day DL on Wednesday with a right hamstring strain, the Houston Chronicle's Angel Verdejo reports.

General manager Jeff Luhnow said the team does not know the severity of the injury or what kind of timetable Reed is facing. He has a .973 OPS and six home runs through 28 games for Triple-A Frisco, despite dealing with some bad luck on balls in play. Reed will almost certainly be up this season, and his ability to return quickly and put this injury behind him will dictate exactly when he gets the call this summer.
