Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Absent from Monday's lineup
Alvarez (knee) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Alvarez departed Sunday's 9-8 loss to the Angels after banging his right knee on the ground while sliding. He had been set to undergo imaging on the knee Monday, and while the results of his tests have not yet been revealed, Alvarez will miss at least one start. Jon Singleton will serve as Houston's designated hitter Monday.

Masataka Yoshida LF | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Taking seat Monday
Yoshida is not in the lineup for Monday's contest in Toronto.
Tyler O'Neill (back) is being eased back into the lineup at designated hitter after sitting out the Red Sox's last two games, so Yoshida will take a seat. Yoshida is on the bench for the second time over the last four games, with both absences coming versus right-handed pitching.

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Set to undergo imaging
Astros manager Joe Espada said after Sunday's 9-8 loss to the Angels that Alvarez will undergo imaging on his right knee, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Alvarez injured his right knee while sliding into second base in the bottom of the third inning, and he left the game after being visited by trainers. The initial diagnosis was a knee contusion, but the results of the imaging will determine Alvarez's availability for the final week of the regular season.

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Exits with right knee contusion
Alvarez left Sunday's game against the Angels with a right knee contusion, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Alvarez appears to have avoided a serious injury, but with his history of knee trouble, the Astros may sit him down for at least a day or two to be safe. The injury occurred when Alvarez slid into second base on a double in the bottom of the third inning. Mauricio Dubon pinch ran for Alvarez and stayed in the game in left field.

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Leaves game with apparent injury
Alvarez left Sunday's game against the Angels with an apparent right leg injury, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Alvarez doubled in the bottom of the third inning, but he came up favoring his right leg after sliding into the second-base bag. He left the game after a visit from the trainer, and with Houston thinking big picture, the team could opt to rest the slugger for a game or two even if this turns out to be minor.

Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE
Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Sitting Sunday
Manzardo is not in Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals.
The lefty-hitting designated hitter will head to the bench, even with righty Andre Pallante on the hill for St. Louis. Manzardo went 0-for-5 with a walk and two strikeouts in the first two games of the series. Jose Ramirez is starting at DH while Angel Martinez gets the nod at third base.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Snaps slump with three-run HR
Stanton went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a walk in Saturday's 10-0 win against Oakland.
Stanton came into Saturday having gone 12 games without a long ball and batting .122 with a 36.2 percent strikeout rate over that stretch. The veteran slugger shook the slump with a 441-foot, three-run blast in the third inning and reached two other times in the rout, notching his first multi-hit game since Sept. 1. Stanton is up to 26 home runs and 67 RBI on the season with a .234/.297/.476 slash line over 435 plate appearances.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Tallies four hits, including homer
Alvarez went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double and two total runs in Saturday's 10-4 win against the Angels.
Alvarez's most productive hit was a solo shot to center field in the seventh inning. That was his 35th long ball of the season, 10th most in the majors. The four-hit performance snapped an uncharacteristic cold streak for Alvarez, who came into Saturday having gone 2-for-22 over his previous six games.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Idle versus lefty
O'Hearn isn't in Baltimore's lineup Friday against the Tigers.
With southpaw Tyler Holton set to open Friday's contest for Detroit, the lefty-hitting O'Hearn will take a seat on the bench. While he rests, Coby Mayo will pick up a start at first base and bat seventh.

Masataka Yoshida LF | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Sitting against righty
Yoshida is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.
The Twins are starting a right-hander in David Festa, but the left-handed-hitting Yoshida will nonetheless begin this one on the bench. After an excellent July and August, Yoshida is slashing just .231/.286/.365 so far in September. Tyler O'Neill will be Boston's designated hitter Friday.
