    Brewers' Tyler Black: Absent from lineup again

    Black is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's contest against the Guardians.

    Since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Black has gone 1-for-11 over his four major-league appearances. He'll begin Sunday's contest in the dugout while William Contreras serves as the designated hitter for Sunday's series finale.

    Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Another three hits in win

    Ozuna went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer, a walk and three runs scored in Saturday's win over the Angels.

    Ozuna crushed a hanging slider from Griffin Canning 437 feet over the wall in center field in his first at-bat to score Michael Harris and Austin Riley, giving the veteran slugger his 36th long ball of the campaign and his fifth this month. Ozuna added two leadoff singles in the contest, marking his second consecutive three-hit performance and his sixth multi-hit effort in his last 10 games overall. Over that latter stretch, he's batting .428 (18-for-42) with four homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored.

    Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Sitting Sunday

    Pederson is absent from Sunday's lineup against Tampa Bay.

    Despite right-hander Drew Rasmussen taking the mound for the Rays in Sunday's series finale, the lefty-hitting Pederson will begin the contest in the dugout. Since the All-Star break, Pederson is slashing .345/.478/.745 with 13 runs scored, six home runs and 16 RBI across 71 plate appearances. Randal Grichuk will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth.

    Mets' J.D. Martinez: Not in Sunday's lineup

    Martinez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

    Martinez has a .208/.333/.354 slash line through 14 games in August and will sit Sunday after starting the previous nine contests. Jesse Winker will serve as the designated hitter while Starling Marte (knee) is in right field in his return from the injured list.

    Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Homer, two steals in loss

    Ohtani went 1-for-3 in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals with a solo homer, two stolen bases and two runs scored while also drawing a walk.

    Ohtani drew a leadoff walk to open the contest and stole second before later coming home on a Freddie Freeman single. The slugger would then go on to add a second steal in the third, along with a solo homer in the fifth. It marked Ohtani's third multi-steal effort this month, and he's now homered in three of his last six games. However, he's still batting just .171 (11-for-64) in August with six long balls, 10 RBI, eight runs and nine stolen bases.

    Black is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.

    Black had started three of the Brewers' previous four games at DH, but he'll yield to William Contreras at the position Saturday while Gary Sanchez catches. Since being called up Monday, Black is 1-for-11 with two runs scored and an RBI.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Placed on IL with knee injury

    The Pirates placed McCutchen on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to left knee inflammation, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports..

    McCutchen suffered the injury in the seventh inning of Friday's game against Seattle while running to first base. The 37-year-old was in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, and over his last 15 games he's slashed .278/.385/.481 with three home runs and 14 RBI across 62 plate appearances. Oneil Cruz is serving as the designated hitter for Saturday's contest, though Joey Bart has served as the DH in three of the Pirates' last seven games, which could mean more starts behind home plate for Yasmani Grandal. Infielder Alika Williams was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

    McCutchen (knee) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

    McCutchen left in the seventh inning of Friday's game against Seattle after sustaining a knee injury while running to first base. Oneil Cruz (ankle) will serve as the designated hitter and bat second against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo.

    Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Angels.

    Ozuna was the only Atlanta batter to record multiple hits in the contest. He's shown no signs of slowing down in August, going 19-for-61 (.311) with four homers over 15 contests this month. He's up to a .302/.374/.580 slash line, 35 home runs, 90 RBI, 75 runs scored and 23 doubles across 122 games this season.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Homers, reaches three times

    Blackmon went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 7-3 win over the Padres.

    Blackmon has produced a trio of multi-hit efforts over his last five games. He also put an end to a power drought Friday, as the homer was his first since July 22. The veteran is up to a .256/.328/.402 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 47 runs scored and five stolen bases through 92 contests. Despite middling results, Blackmon remains the Rockies' leadoff hitter versus right-handed pitchers.
