  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Idle Saturday

McCutchen isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's matchup versus Philadelphia.

McCutchen has gone hitless through seven at-bats and struck out four times in the first two games of Pittsburgh's series with the Phillies, so he'll get a day to regroup Saturday. Edward Olivares will assume DH duties and bat fifth while the 37-year-old veteran rests.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Belts homer Friday

Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk Friday in an 8-7 extra-innings victory against the Dodgers.

Machado got the Padres off to a nice start with a two-run blast in the first inning. Though he didn't collect another hit in the contest, it was still a promising development for the third baseman since the homer snapped an 11-game stretch without a long ball. Machado is still batting just .238 on the campaign, but he's been heating up of late, slashing .320/.346/.480 during his current six-game hitting streak.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | ATL

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Slugs sixth homer

Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

The veteran slugger capped his big day with a solo shot off Matt Andriese in the ninth inning. Ozuna's been red hot begin the season, batting .360 (18-for-50) through 12 games with six homers, 10 runs and 16 RBI, and the former Marlin continues to enjoy hitting in LoanDepot Park -- through 347 career games in Miami, Ozuna has slashed .295/.347/.496 with 57 home runs.

  • Kris Bryant RF | COL

Rockies' Kris Bryant: Drives in two

Bryant went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI on Friday against the Blue Jays.

Bryant managed his second multi-hit performance of the season, with the highlight being a two-run double in the fourth frame. That marked his second extra-base hit across 47 plate appearances to begin the campaign, good for just a .075 ISO.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Blasts fourth homer

Ohtani went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's loss to the Padres.

Ohtani opened the scoring for the Dodgers, crushing a 403-foot homer to center off Michael King in the first inning. With his three-hit evening, the Dodgers designated hitter extended his current hitting streak to eight games. Ohtani is showing no ill effects from his offseason elbow surgery, slashing .353/.392/.706 over 74 plate appearances.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: On bench versus lefty

Pederson is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

The Diamondbacks are facing a left-handed starter Friday in Steven Matz, so Pederson will head to the bench. Blaze Alexander will serve as the designated hitter as Kevin Newman receives a start at shortstop.

  • Joey Meneses DH | NYM

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Receives first day off

Meneses is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

He'll take a seat for the first time all season while Joey Gallo and Jesse Winker pick up starts at first base and designated hitter, respectively. Through the Nationals' first 11 games, Meneses has slashed .190/.271/.214 with no home runs or stolen bases, two RBI and one run.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Sits against southpaw

Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

The lefty-hitting Pederson will take a seat for the fourth time in five games while the Diamondbacks once again face off against a southpaw (Austin Gomber) in the series finale in Colorado. Pederson should serve as Arizona's primary designated hitter against right-handed starting pitchers, but he'll give way to Ketel Marte with Gomber on the bump.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Mets' J.D. Martinez: Gets injection in back

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Martinez is dealing with tightness in his lower back and received an injection for the injury, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Mendoza added that Martinez will be sidelined for up to five days, and he'll continue to ramp up his progress in the minors before joining the team. Martinez played two games at Single-A St. Lucie this past weekend and went 1-for-8 with two walks. He hasn't participated in baseball activities since then due to the back issues.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Not in lineup Tuesday

Montero is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

After sitting out Sunday against the Rays, Montero rejoined the starting lineup at first base for the series opener Monday, when he finished 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly. He's had a slow start to the season, slashing .160/.241/.160 with one RBI and no extra-base hits over 29 plate appearances. Kris Bryant will start at first base Tuesday and hit fifth against Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly.
