Eldridge went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and a second RBI in Friday's 10-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Eldridge has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games, going 16-for-57 (.281) with four homers and 10 RBI in that span. The first baseman is now batting .254 with a .793 OPS, 15 homers, 38 RBI, 43 runs scored, 17 doubles and one stolen base over 89 contests this season. He should continue to see a near-everyday role between first base and designated hitter.

Nootbaar went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and a second run scored in Friday's 10-6 win over the Giants.

This was Nootbaar's best game in an Arizona uniform and just his second multi-hit effort since he was acquired from the Cardinals. He's batting just .211 (12-for-57) with two homers, three doubles and six RBI over 18 games since the trade. The rough stretch has him down to a .228 average and .687 OPS with five homers, 22 RBI, 28 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases over 66 contests this season.

The Mets transferred Polanco (ankle) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Chris Devenski. Polanco had previously been ruled out for the season when it was decided earlier this month that he'd have surgery on his left ankle.

The Giants reinstated Eldridge from the bereavement list Thursday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Eldridge missed the Giants' three-game series against Cincinnati while tending to a personal matter, but he's now back with the team and ready to rejoin the starting nine for Thursday's series opener against Arizona. Buddy Kennedy was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Suarez has cleared outright waivers and will remain with the Reds, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Suarez has slashed only .208/.295/.410 with a 34.9 percent strikeout rate this season and doesn't have much defensive value, so it's not surprising that teams were unwilling to pay him around $3 million for the remainder of the season. The 35-year-old should continue to see everyday at-bats for Cincinnati down the stretch.

Herrera went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Orioles.

Herrera had gone just 8-for-50 (.160) over his previous 14 games. He also drew 11 walks in that span, and he's logged 14 walks over 22 contests since Aug. 3 after struggling with plate discipline for most of July. The 26-year-old is batting .246 with a .742 OPS, 14 home runs, seven stolen bases, 53 RBI, 82 runs scored, 23 doubles and one triple over 133 contests.

The Reds placed Suarez on outright waivers Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

The Reds signed Suarez to a $15 million deal during the offseason in an effort to bolster their offense and contend for a postseason berth. However, with a month remaining in the regular season, Cincinnati sits in last place in the NL Central at 63-71 -- nine games back of the final wild-card spot. The team will now attempt to save some money by making Suarez available to the other 29 teams via waivers, but the 35-year-old is not a lock to be claimed after slashing just .208/.295/.410 across 410 plate appearances this season while still carrying a $3 million price tag for the rest of the year.

Schwarber went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer, a double and a second run scored in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Mariners.

Schwarber broke the game open in the second inning with a three-run, 425-foot blast off Bryan Woo, extending the Phillies' lead to 6-0. Schwarber became the first player in the majors to reach 40 homers this year, while reaching the mark for the fourth time in his last five seasons. Overall, he's slashing .243/.358/.531 with 81 RBI and 79 runs scored across 573 plate appearances this season.

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Ramirez has occupied a top-four spot in the lineup in each of the last three games while the Marlins faced left-handed starting pitchers, going 1-for-8 with two walks and two runs. He'll be back on the bench Wednesday with the Red Sox sending righty Sonny Gray to the hill and could mostly be limited to a short-side platoon role while the Marlins have all of their key hitters available.

Manager Dave Roberts didn't rule out the possibility of Ohtani (knee) pitching Sunday against the Tigers, depending how things go the next few days, Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The skipper indicated Sunday that Ohtani could pitch in a game as early as this week, and it appears the two-way star is in play to close out the three-game series in Detroit. The right-hander threw 30 pitches in a session of live batting practice Saturday and will have one more mound session this week. If that goes well, Ohtani could make his first appearance on the bump for the Dodgers since early July. He would likely have a limited workload early on, which would give Eric Lauer a chance to work in a piggyback role.
