Though he's produced a .206/.300/.647 slash line (155 wRC+) over 40 plate appearances versus lefties this season, Manzardo could have to settle for a strong-side platoon role at designated hitter with David Fry now off the IL.

Soler was removed from Saturday's game against the Mariners due to groin tightness.

Soler exited Wednesday's contest versus the Red Sox with groin tightness before returning to the lineup Friday, but he appears to have aggravated the injury Saturday. The Angels will likely exercise more caution after the second occurrence of the injury, and the veteran slugger should be considered day-to-day until the severity of the issue is disclosed.

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

With first pitch Sunday set for 12:10 p.m. EDT, Ramirez will get a breather after starting at either catcher or designated hitter in 18 straight contests. Liam Hicks will handle catching duties, and Heriberto Hernandez will serve as Miami's DH.

Schwarber trails only Shohei Ohtani for the National League lead in homers so far.

In Ohtani's previous sim game, he threw 29 pitches and topped out at 97 mph with his fastball while deploying his full arsenal. Ohtani is loosely slated to throw to hitters each weekend, and it's unclear how moving this session to Monday will impact his throwing schedule moving forward.

Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Rays.

The rookie backstop took Zack Littell deep in the fourth inning to get the Marlins on the board. While Ramirez has slowed down at the plate since a blistering start to his career, he's avoided any prolonged slumps -- the 23-year-old hasn't gone more than two straight games without a hit since the beginning of May, slashing .244/.308/.429 over his last 30 contests with five of his eight homers and 14 of his 19 RBI.
