X-rays on Carpenter's right hand came back negative, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Carpenter exited Wednesday's game in the seventh inning after being hit by a pitch on his hand. His removal was deemed precautionary and initial X-rays revealed the veteran isn't dealing with a fracture, though he'll likely still head for additional tests in the coming days to confirm he isn't dealing with anything more serious. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Carpenter exited Wednesday's game against the Nationals after being hit by a pitch on his hand, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Carpenter immediately left the game with a trainer. It would be a huge blow for the Cardinals and fantasy owners if Carpenter is forced to miss action, as the 32-year-old has been on a tear at the plate. His status should be updated after he's further evaluated following Wednesday's game. Carpenter was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored prior to exiting the game in the seventh inning.

Ohtani (elbow) threw another bullpen session Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Ohtani threw at near-max effort while hitters stood in, but didn't swing, for perspective. He's expected to be back in San Diego in time for Wednesday's game, where he'll serve as an option off the bench. Ohtani continues to hit for the Angels, and there's still a chance he could return to the mound before the end of the season.

Pederson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Giants.

Pederson will stick on the bench for a fifth straight game as the Dodgers face another left-hander (Derek Holland). Chris Taylor will start in center field in this one.

Buxton went 3-for-5 with a home run Tuesday for Triple-A Rochester. He was activated from the DL after missing time with a wrist injury.

If Buxton can stay hot at the plate and stay healthy (which has been his issue this season), he could be in line for a promotion in September or earlier. The Twins would likely love to see him in the majors again to figure out where he fits into the team's plans in 2019.

Turner went 3-for-4 with three doubles and a strikeout in Tuesday's loss to the Giants.

Turner notched three of the club's five hits on the day and scored the only run, coming around on a Manny Machado single in the eighth inning. The 33-year-old is working on an eight-game hitting streak -- six of which have been multi-hit efforts -- and is slashing a terrific .436/.511/.795 in 39 at-bats since the calendar flipped to August.

Harper went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and two strikeouts in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.

Harper delivered the two-run blast -- his 30th of the season -- in the eighth inning. It marks just the second time the 25-year-old has reached the 30-home run plateau, and he's showing no signs of slowing down; in 47 at-bats in August, Harper is slashing .340/.436/.723 with five long balls and 10 RBI.

Belt (knee) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Tuesday night's game against the Dodgers, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Belt makes his return from the disabled list for the second game of the series in Los Angeles, although he is not in Tuesday's lineup against left-hander Alex Wood. Another lefty in Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) is set to start for the Dodgers on Wednesday, but Belt seems likely to return to the lineup regardless with a scheduled off day Thursday.

Belt (knee) is with the Giants at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday but has not been activated, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The expectation was that Belt would be activated prior to Tuesday's game, and that could still happen before the 10:10 ET first pitch, but Belt will not start with another lefty (Alex Wood) toeing the rubber for Los Angeles. Buster Posey gets the nod at first base. Belt went 1-for-5 with a double in two rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento.

Buxton (wrist) was activated from the disabled list at Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

His latest setback ended up costing Buxton exactly two weeks. Buxton originally hurt his wrist July 12 and only played in three games upon his return in late July before renewed soreness put him back on the shelf. He has also missed time with migraines and a toe injury, but the 24-year-old still has time to salvage something from this season and get the arrow moving back upward heading into 2019.
