The Reds released Capel on Aug. 3.

Capel had previously logged eight plate appearances over five games at the big-league level in May with the Reds before he was designated for assignment June 21. He ultimately cleared waivers and stuck around in the organization for another month before the Reds elected to move on from the 27-year-old outfielder. Capel slashed .215/.345/.429 with 12 home runs and nine stolen bases over 74 games with Triple-A Louisville.

Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Pederson is on fire to begin August with four homers and a 1.276 OPS though nine games, but he'll hit the bench Sunday with lefty Cristopher Sanchez pitching for Philadelphia. Randal Grichuk is batting fifth as the designated hitter in the series finale.

Bryant is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Bryant has now taken Sunday off in each of the three weekends since he came off the 10-day injured list July 23. With Bryant on the bench for the series finale with Atlanta, Charlie Blackmon will start in right field and Brendan Rodgers will serve as the Rockies' designated hitter.

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Lefty Jeffrey Springs is starting Sunday for Tampa Bay, so O'Hearn is absent from the lineup for the second straight game. Austin Slater is starting in left field while Eloy Jimenez receives another turn at designated hitter.

Stanton went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader split against the Rangers.

Stanton sat out the matinee before batting fourth and starting at DH in the nightcap. The slugger went deep to center field for a two-run homer in the eighth inning, though the Yankees still trailed by six runs following the blast. The long ball was Stanton's first over eight contests since returning from the injured list July 29.

Calhoun is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

With southpaw MacKenzie Gore taking the hill for the Nationals, the lefty-hitting Calhoun will remain on the bench for the series finale. Calhoun has now been held out of the lineup in five straight contests, with the Angels facing off against left-handed staters in the last four of those games. The Angels will begin a three-game series Monday against a Toronto squad that features an all-right-handed rotation, so Calhoun should regain a regular spot in the lineup during the upcoming week.

Alvarez went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and a walk in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Red Sox.

Alvarez accounted for the Astros' first three runs on two homers that traveled a combined 833 feet. The slugger is on a tear to open August, registering multiple hits in five of eight games while going deep four times. On the season, he is hitting .304 with 24 home runs, 62 RBI and 66 runs scored across 479 plate appearances.

McCutchen is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

McCutchen is absent from the starting nine for a third consecutive game, an interesting development for the 37-year-old, who has operated as Pittsburgh's everyday DH. It's possible McCutchen is dealing with an injury, but there haven't been any updates regarding his string of absences. Joey Bart will start at DH and bat cleanup Saturday.

Jimenez isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Rays.

Jimenez has been white-hot at the plate since joining the Orioles, going 11-for-21 with four RBI across seven games. He'll get a breather Saturday against Drew Rasmussen and the Rays, moving Anthony Santander into the DH spot and Austin Slater into right field.

O'Hearn isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Saturday's game versus Tampa Bay.

O'Hearn will take a seat on the bench Saturday after going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk during Friday's victory. While he rests, Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins and Austin Slater will start across the Orioles' outfield.
